Brandon Moss to be promoted to the bigs?

Gordon Edes updated his blog at 4 am. Moss has been struggling as of late and has been taking grounders at 1st base. Might this be an indication that Wily Mo will be placed on waivers?...

 

EDIT: Whomever Roto read the article wrong by Gordon Edes. He said Kielty would be an alternative to Wily Mo in terms of playing in center field. The article does state that the Sox would cut ties with Pena if Kielty is acquired.

The Red Sox have been having ongoing negotiations with Bobby Kielty's agent, Dan Lozano, about signing the recent free agent.

 

Kielty could have a role platooning with Wily Mo Pena in center field . Last season, Kielty batted .325 vs. lefties, .229 vs. righties. Another possibility could be Jose Cruz Jr., who was released last week by the Padres.

 

EDIT:

With Eric Hinske leaving the team for three days due to personal reasons, the Red Sox are expected to call up OF Brandon Moss from Triple-A Monday.

 

Moss will join the team in Anaheim, but could be back at Pawtucket by the end of the week.
