Bobby Kielty DFA...possible signing?

I know hes not Dye, or Texiera.....but he is an upgrade over WMP, in all aspects of the game besides hitting homeruns during batting practice.

Sox have been rumored to be interested, as a prelude to a WMP trade. This makes it more likely.

A's: The A's continue to be an active team, making a move prior to Monday's game with Anaheim that would indicate a trade is forthcoming. The Athletics designated outfielder Bobby Kielty for assignment, which means that he may be traded soon, and there are whispers that the Red Sox are interested in the switch-hitting outfielder. Looks like we'll be trading for him but for who? I thought Billy Beane was really high on WMP? Maybe he finally realized he sucks.

The biggest upgrade from Wily Mo to Kielty is the defense (capable of playing LF, CF, RF, 1B ), even then he does have more of a consistent bat than Wily Mo does. It wouldnt be a big acquisition that many are clamoring for but he would help the team

His real value lies in his ability to hit left-handed pitching, he owns a .296/.379/.509/.888 line against them.

 

I don't recall him ever getting rave reviews for his fielding. He has a career range factor that is lower than the league average. However, he almost certaintly can play the corners better than Wily Mo Pena, and would be a nice bat off the bench.

 

If acquiring him means selling low on Pena, then forget it.

I'm pretty I'm better defensively than Wily Mo Pena so Kielty damn well should be able to play better than WMP
