I just read this on rotoworld' date=' very very tragic. Cant believe how that kid who hit that liner is feeling.[/quote']

Terrible, I imagine. When my friend played club level college hockey, he took a slap shot that hit a kid in the chest, and somehow snuck under his pads or hit an uncovered spot, and killed him instantly. He wasn't the same for quite a while. I can't even imagine how that would feel and I certainly hope I never have to know.

What an unfortunate incident -- my thoughts are with his family, friends, and team.

RIP. I couldn't even imagine having that happen to me, on either end. It's tragic. But he died doing what he loved. Baseball.

That makes me recall a story my grandpa told me once when he was in the minors. He was a catcher and one day inbetween innnings while the pitcher was warming up, the home plate umpire tapped my grandpa on the back and said "I don't feel good. Take over." And the umpire dropped dead on the spot from a heart attack. Sad to lose the man, but my grandfather knew him well and said that's how he would have wanted it, during baseball.

That's really sad to hear. RIP.

I'm surprised that a fan hasn't had something like this happen to them yet. With all the hard line drives drilled down the 1st and 3rd baselines into foul territory, you'd think something would happen every now and then, especially when some people aren't even paying attention to the game.

A nine year old girl got hit in the head with Brett Butler's bat back in the '90s. It cracked her skull or some s***. She didn't die though.

Actually did happen at a Zepyhrs game about a month ago. The guy didn't die. I was right behind the Z's dugout and a foul ball went straight into the stands, over my head, and beaned the guy a few rows up and over directly in the side of the head. He just sat there for a few moments before some staff members came and took him away. It sounded worse than it was. You could here a huge "THUD" when it hit his head. He came back about five minutes later, a bit shooken up but he was completely fine. One of the guys in the dugout popped his head over and looked at me, I think it was Sandy Alomar Jr, and he was like "What happened?" so I explained it to him and he couldn't believe the guy survived either.
