Oh well, at this point I'll take a low tier prospect for him. There was a time I was all for the Wily Mo era, it has soured as he has been a black hole this year. He can only get better with consistent playing time, thats not happening in Boston

I think this is bailling too early on WMP. The guy has ungodly power. He simply needs consistent playing time on a team that can give it to him. No need to lower his value, just find a decent deal.

A low-tier prospect wouldn't be enough.

As what I said in my post.

A low tier prospect yes might be pushing it but its clear the Sox dont have room for him and definitely need to make an upgrade. An OF who can hit more consistently off the bench while displaying a good glove.

They will get nothing for him, and comparing his future output to Ryan Howard is maybe one of the most outlandish things I have ever read.

Wouldn't a swap with the twins make sense. Kubel, Tyner and Ford are pretty much the same player. Why not swap one for Pena? They DESPERATELY need power and the Sox could use any of them as a 4th outfielder for defensive purposes in the late innings and to occasionally spell Coco or Manny.

Lew Ford, and Jason Tyner?

Wily Mo Pena?

I suppose you thought this was clever.

OPS+

Tyner - 67

Ford - 96

You could get Tyner for a D level relief pitcher, and Ford wouldn't be that much more.

Torii Hunter then?

Seriously though, what would be good value for Pena? A team like Minny could use him.

Probably a good relief pitcher from a team who has a spot to play him everyday.

Rincon? ...because Neshek, Guerrier, and Nathan aren't going anywhere.
