Cuban applied to MLB to buy the Chicago Cubs( via ESPN radio, ESPN.com).

Thoughts?:dunno:

I'm for it, I like Cuban...

he would be very entertaining and would be a younger steinbrenner. Their salaries might exceed 300 mil. He spares no expense, and I kinda like that. Plus, Cuban isnt exactly revered across america. If he buys the cubs, pumps in cash, and wins a WS, he will be a hero. Do it. The cubs winning the WS would be even bigger news than the sox winning it, since the sox had been so close for so many yrs. While the cubbies havent really been close at all (except 03).

When the LCS was a 5 game series, they went 5 with SD in '84, and that was after being up 2-0 with Sutcliffe on the mound in game 5. I'd say that was close.

And, part of the Sox being a big story was all the tragic "this close to it" moments. Chicago has two in the last 50 years, with only one lexicon moment (Bartman). Counting backwards, the Sox have Boone, Buckner, Dent, Armbrister, and Pesky's hesitation, all in deciding games. Then throw in the improbable coming back from being down 0-3 against the rival that is responsible for two of those moments, and there's no way the Cubs winning becomes a bigger story. There just isn't enough background to build the drama. It wouldn't even be close.

Agreed, the ChiSox hand't won in awhile and it's not they like they got a bigger story then we did. Though the Cubbies will probably get a bit more coverage then they did.

If someone were to address me when I was not present, or as if I were an inanimate object, I'd be a little weirded out.

On a related note, I heard someone on ESPN say they wanted Cuban to buy the Yankees after Steinbrenner kicks the bucket. Talk about a clash of styles.
