past incidents with Elijah Dukes according to rotoworld:

May. 3 '06-- Elijah Dukes was removed from the team at Triple-A Durham because of an altercation with coaches last week.

Dukes, who has a long history of on- and off-field problems, is working out in Florida.

Jun. 18 '06-- Devil Rays' prospect Elijah Dukes has been suspended from Triple-A Durham indefinitely for disciplinary purposes.

"There was another incident," Rays farm director Mitch Lukevics said. "We sent him home for disciplinary reasons. That's about all I can say at this time." The Devil Rays haven't announced when they will let Dukes return.

Jun. 25 '06-- The Rays announced that Elijah Dukes received a 15-game suspension for fighting with Triple-A Durham teammate Ryan Knox earlier this month.

Dukes had been suspended indefinitely. The penalty is retroactive to June 17, the first day he missed. Knox got a three-game suspension.

Aug. 1 '06-- Elijah Dukes said he might quit baseball after being suspended indefinitely Tuesday by the Rays pending an investigation into his five-game suspension by the International League.

Dukes, who was slated to return to Triple-A Durham's lineup tonight, was suspended by the leagues after he was ejected for arguing balls and strikes on July 25. "I have no idea when or if I'll be back," Dukes said. "I packed up all my stuff and I'm headed home. To be honest, I don't even know about baseball anymore. Everything is just wearing on me and this year has just been so frustrating. I'm trying to keep my nose clean and keep to myself, but things just keep getting turned around. I'm tired of it." Dukes will be back, but his chances of receiving a September callup could be gone. Even though they won't get equal talent in return, the Rays could choose to trade him in the offseason.

Aug. 5 '06--The Rays announced that Elijah Dukes has been suspended 30 games for a series of incidents that originally led to a five-game suspension from the International League last week.

Dukes had been suspended indefinitely. The new suspension will make him available for the final week of the minor league season. However, it's anyone's guess whether he'll play. An offseason trade might be in everyone's best interests.

Jan. 17 '07--After Elijah Dukes was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession during a traffic stop on Monday night, the passenger in the vehicle claimed that the marijuana found in the vehicle was his.

Still, Dukes admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. Monday's incident was the fifth time since 2003 that Dukes has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. He had, however, stayed clean of late. The most recent incident prior to Monday's arrest came in September 2005 when Dukes was charged with operating an unregistered vehicle.

May. 23 '07--Elijah Dukes' wife filed for a restraining order last week and claimed that Dukes "threatened to kill her and sent a photo of a handgun to her cell phone."

According to the St. Petersburg Times, NiShea Gilbert played the newspaper a voice mail that she claimed was left by Dukes, in which a man threatens Gilbert and her children. "I just don't think I should live in fear," Gilbert said. "When (the Rays) go out of town, I come home. When they're at home, I go stay with my mother. I shouldn't have to live like that because he's a baseball player."

Jun. 12 '07--A 17-year-old foster girl living with a relative of Elijah Dukes told police the Devil Rays outfielder got her pregnant.

The girl, expected to give birth Nov. 5, told investigators she and Dukes had consensual sex on the living room sofa. She said Dukes got angry when she and another person confronted him about the pregnancy. "Yeah, we sat down and told him and he got mad and threw a Gatorade at me," she told investigators. Dukes is already known to have had at least five children with four different women. This is yet another incident that could add to the Rays' desire to ship him out of town.

...and even before last year the guy had a bad history. It seems like it just keeps getting worse for him. I just think its sad that someone so talented as him, cause ive seen him play before he could be an all-star in this league, has to do all this s***. I mean he's only 22 years old, just starting his pro career and he can't stay out of trouble. He needs to get traded and hopefully he can stay out of trouble in new surroundings. I really can't think of anyone else in baseball recently who has gotten in more trouble than Dukes in the amount of time he's been in the league.
