The 2007 DSL season started June second, I have been tied up with the draftand haven't had a chance to talk about it. The Sox have released the following players who played in the 2006 DSL.

The Red Sox are 6-4 after 10 games and in second place one game behind on its division with three teams tied for first place.

 

The Sox's hitting its lead by its outfielders with Ronald Bermudez leading the team is hitting with a 424 Ave and Roberto feliz with a 342 Ave for second on the team, a third outfielder Juan Bonifacio leads the team with 2 HR and its second in doubles with 4, one behind team leader Feliz with 5. Bermudez leads the team with hit with 14 one more than Feliz, Bermudez its also tied with second baseman Wilfred Pichardo with 5 stolen bases, with pichardo leading the team in runs score with 10 and Bermudez behind him with 7 runs scored, Pichardo also has 3 triples not one else in the team has any, however pichardo its hitting for a 222 ave, but its second on the team with 7 base on ball one behind Bermudez. Bonifacio leads the team with 9 RBI one more than Feliz, but also leads the team striking out with 14.

 

The Sox pitching its lead by perhaps the team best prospect RHP Stolmy Pimental. Pimental leads the team in IP with 12 in 3 games 1/3 more than RHP Javier Jimenez. Pimental also leads the team with 12 strike outs, with RHP Charlie Rozario 9 and Jimenez with 8. Pimental hasn't allowed a run in 12 IP, RHP Randy Consuegra hasn't alllowed a run in 5 IP, Dennis Neuman in 4 1/3 and LHP Manuel Rivera in 4 IP. Rivera, Neuman and LHP Edwin Lopez 1 save each.

The Red Sox entry beat the Tampa entry Friday 3-2 and now are 7-4 one game behind the Royals and Dodgers entries on their own division. Dominican RHP Anataner Batista was the starter for the Sox 4 IP 3 H 2 R 1 ER BB 2K, Colombian RHP Randy Consuegra (W) 3 IP 2 H 0 R 0 bb 1 K, LHP Dominican Nestor Lastreto 1 IP 0 H 0 R 1 BB 1 K and RHP Dennis Neuman (From Curacao) 1 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 1 K and the save his second on the season.

On Saturday the Sox entry committed six errors and lost to the Marlins entry in 11 inning 5-4. Venezuelan Outfielder Ronald Bermudez was the Sox hitting force with two hits. In the mound LHP Dominican Cesar Cabral pitched 5IP 6 H 1 R 0 ER 0 BB 5 K, Dominican RHP Brandon Ulloa 3 IP 1 H I R 0 ER 2 BB 2 K, RHP Mauel Jimenez 2/3 IP 0 h 1 R 0 ER 2 BB 2 K and LHP Manuel Rivera LP 2 IP 2H 2 R 2 ER 2 Bb 3 K.

 

Monday the Sox plays the Dodgers entry

Sox RHP Dennis Neuman allowed two runs in the botton of the inith inning and the Sox entry lost to the the Dodgers 3-2. For the second game in a row there wasn't any hitting standouts. The pitching was very good again. Dominican RHP Charlie Rosario pitched 5 IP 5 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 4 K, RHP Victor De la Cruz 2 IP 2 H 1BB 1K, Venezuelan LHP Ernesto Reyes 1 IP 0 H 0R 1 B 1K and Neuman the looser. Venezuelan catcher Maykol Sanchez in his first year in the Sox system threw out 3 or 4 runners trying to steal.

Dominicans RHP Anataner Batista and LHP Manuel Rivera combined to Shut down the Royals entry on thursday 4-0 in a 7 innings game. Batista pitched 5 2/2 IP 5 H 0R 0BB 5 K and 1 2/3 IP 1 H 0 R 1 BB 1 K.

 

At the bat outfielder Roberto Feliz was the Sox top hitter going 3-2 (One double) Dominican outfielders Juan Bonifacio and Pedro Gonzalez both went 3-1 1R 1 RBI and Venezuelan third baseman Pedro Chourio 3-1 (a double) Sox top hitter Ronald bermudez went blank in 3 AB.

 

The Sox are now 9-8 in the season and play the Yankes 2 on Friday.

The red Sox entry beat Yankees #2 4-3 Friday and now are 10-8 on the season Dominican LHP Cesar Cabral was the Sox starter 4 1/3 IP 2 H 2 R 2 Er 1 BB 7 K follow by RHP Brandon Ulloa who got the win 1 2/3 IP 2 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 2 K and LHP Edwin Lopez 3 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 3 K and the save.

 

At the bat dominican Catcher Maykol Sanchez was the top hitter 5-2 (a double) 2 RBI Roberto Feliz 1 double in 5 AB 1 RBI and first baseman Eddie Lora had a double in 2 AB and 2 base on balls.

 

Saturday the Sox plays Tampa.

I haven't seen this reported anywhere else, but on June eight Dominican RHP Stolmy Pimentel and Colombian RHP Randy Consuegra combined on a 6 innings no hitter against the Marlins entry, Pimental pitched 4 IP 0H 1 BB 5K and Consuegra 2 IP 3BB 2 K.

 

The Red Sox DSL entry Starting pitching staff consist of Pimentel,Cesar Cabral, Anatanaer Batista, Victor De La Cruz and Javier Javier Jimenez, a all Domican group with Cabral being the left hander in addition Pimental and Jimemez being first year players and the rest second year players.

 

In the first 8 games of the DSl season first year Dominican catcher Derwin Pinto had thrown 75% of the runners who had tried to steal against him. First year SS Dominican German Reyes had only one hit in 17 Ab or first six games but had 5 errors.

The Sox pitchers gave 15 bases on balls but only four base hits Saturday as the Sox entry beat the Tampa one 6-5 and now are 11-8 in third place of its division 1 1/2 game behind leader Dodgers.

 

Dominican RHP Charlie Rosario who has replaced fellow Dominican RHP Victor De la Cruz in the starting staff was the Starter Rosario 4 IP 1 H 2 R 2 ER 2 BB 5 K, follow by Venezuelan LHP Ernesto Reyes 1 2/ 3 IP 0 H 1 R 1 ER 4 BB 0 K. De la Cruz 1 2/3 IP 0 H 2 R 2 ER 7 BB 1 K and closed by LHP Manuel Rivera 1 2/3 IP 3 H 0 R 0 Er 2 BB 2 K.

 

Red Sox run scoring leader, switch hitting lead off hitter and second baseman Wilfred Pichardo was the hitting star with 2-2 1 R 1 RBI 1 BB and outfielder Roberto Feliz 5-2 2 R 1 RBI.

After beating the Marlins Monday 19-0, the Red Sox beat the Dodgers on Tuesday 5-2 and now are 13-8 in second place on their own division 1/2 game behind the Dodgers who is in first place.

Thank You, There is a long road from the DSL to ML, but its nice tofollow the prospects from the lower levels.

 

Derwin Pinto who I have talk about in the last few posts recently turned 17 yrs and the 5-10 195 right handed hitter bat its behind his defense, specially his arm.

The Sox lost to Toronto 2 on Thursday 7-5, Dominican lefthanded Cesar Cabral who coming into this game had not allowed an earned run this season was the Sox starter and looser. 1 2/3 IP 7 H 6 R 6 ER 0 BB 3 K followed by Brandon Ulloa 4 1/3 IP 1 H 1 R 1 ER 2 BB 6 K LHP Nestor Lastreto finished for the Sox 2 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 0 K. At the plate Venezuelan OF Ronald Bermudez was the Sox top hitter 5-3 with two doubles 1 run scored and two RBI, fellow of Roberto Feliz had a doublw and a run scored in 5 AB.

 

Friday the Sox entry beat the Royals 9-8, outfielder Roberto feliz was the hitting star 3-3 with his first HR with 3 RBI and 2 R, second baseman Wilfred Pichardo 5-2 with a run scored and 1 stolen base, catcher Maykol Sanchez 3-2 with a run scored and RBI, Ronald Bermudez 4-1 with 2 runs scored and Dominicans 1B Eddie Lora with a bases clearing triple (3RBI) and a run scored SS German Reyes had a double and run scored in 4 AB.

 

The Sox starter was RHP Charlie Rosario 4 IP 7 H 5 R 3 ER 0 BB 5 K, followed by 16 yrs (youngest player on the team) Venezuelan LHP Ernesto Reyes and game winner 1 IP 0 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 2 K, Colombian RHP Randy Consurgra 2 IP 3 H 2 R 2 R 3 BB 1 K and RHP Dennie neuman from Curacao 2 K 0 H 0R 1 BB 1 K SV.

 

The Sox are now 14-9 in second place of division leader Dodgers 1 1/2 games behind. On saturday the Sox plays the Yankees 2.

About 1/3 of the season finished, the Sox team hitting average is 212 and a 320 OBP, with 5 HR and 25 stolen bases. On the pitching side a 2.37 team ERA in 197 1/3 IP, 155 H, 91 BB, 182 K and 8SV.

 

Outfielder Ronald Bermudez is the top hitter for average with 346, followed by fellow outfielder Roberto feliz with a 318 Ave, no other hitter is close in Ave to them. Second baseman Wilfredo Pichardo leads the team with 20 runs scored, followed by Bermudez with 15 and Feliz with 11. Bermudez and Feliz leads the team with base hits each with 27 followed by Pichardo with 20, Feliz leads the team in doubles with 10, followed Bermudez with 5 and also outfielder Juan Bonifacio with 4, Bonifacio leads the tean with 2 HR and its second with 11 RBI to Feliz who has 19, Bermudez is third on the team with 9. Pichardo leads the team with 11 stolen bases followed by Bermudez with 7. First baseman Eddie Lora has walked the most with 25 and Bonifacio has been punch out the most with 30.

 

Ptching wise RHP Stolmy Pimentel leads the team with a 0. 41 ERA followed by RHP Yeiper Castillo 0. 57, Dennis Neuman 0. 84 and LHP Manuel Rivera 0. 96. Pimentel also leads the in innings pitched with 22.0 IP followed by RHPs Javier jimenez and Charlie Rosario each with 20 1/3 IP. Pimentel with 2-0, RHP Randy Consuegra 2-0, LHP Ernesto Reyes 2-0 and RHP Brandon Ulloa 2-0 leads the team in wins, on the other hand LHP Cesar Cabral 0-2, Dennis Neuman 0-2 and Jimenez 1-2 leads the team in loses. Rosario leads the squad with 23, followed by Pimental and Cabral each with 20 K. Cabral leads with the least walks per 9/IP with 2 in 18 IP followed by LHP Edwin Lopez with 3 in 11 1/3 IP. This note isn't directly connected with the DSL, but inderectly its is. July second is the first day that 16 yrs old international prospects can sign with ML organizations and with july second around the corner it will be interesting who will the Sox sign, there are quite a few elite prospects whose name have been mentioned as possible prospect who might sign with the Red Sox.

 

In 2006 the Sox signed this prospects at this time.

Satturday the sox beat the yankees #2 5-2 to conclude the first 1/3 of the season with a 15-9 record on second place behind the dodgers.

 

Javier Jimenez was the Sox starter 3 IP 1 H 1 R 1 ER 3 BB 4 K, followed by RHp Victor de La Cruz (game winner) 4 IP 4 H 1 R 1 ER 0 BB 1 K and closed by LHP Manuel Rivera SV (#3) 2 IP 1 H 0 R 1 BB 2 K.

 

At the bat Roberto Feliz had a double (#11 for the season among his two hits and 2 RBI (21 on the season) Ronald Bermudez had a hit and run scored in 3 AB Third baseman Nelson Bonilla had a HR (#2 and tied for team lead) and a base hit in 4 AB in addition to 2 RBI first baseman Eddie Lora had a double and base hit in 4 AB with a run scored and 1 RBI and outfielder Wilfi Santana had 1 h 1 SB in 4AB.

 

Monday the Sox plays Tampa Bay.

Monday the Sox beat the Tampa bay entry 6-4 and now have a 16-9 record on second place 1 1/2 behind the Dodgers.

Red Hot outfielder Roberto Feliz was the top Sox hitter hitting a HR ( #2 on the season which tieds for the team lead) and a double (#12 on the season) in addition to a single in 4 AB with 2 RBI (23 on the season) outfielder Juan Bonifacio had a double in 4 AB 1 run scored ans 1 RBI, outfielder Miguel Meregildo had a single in AB two bases on ball 2 stolen bases 1 run scored and 1 RBI, short stop Luis Diaz had a double in 3 AB 1 stolen base and 1 run scored and third baseman Pedro Chourio had a single in 3 AB and 1 RBI.

Tuesday the Sox beat the Marlins entry 8-0 and now are 17-9 1/2 game behind division leaders Dodgers in Boca Chica North division. On July 4 The Sox will play against the Dodgers for the division lead at the Dodgers complex.

 

Anataner Batista in the Dominican is known as Pedro Martinez Jr because of his size ( 5' 10" 150) and his stuff is 18 yrs was the Sox starter against the Marlins 5 IP 0 H 0 R 1 BB 9 K, followed by Brandon Ulloa 3 IP 2 H 0 R 0 BB 3 K and finished by Dominican RHP Manuel Jimenez pitching in only his second game 1 IP 2 H 0R 1 BB 0K.

 

Roberto Feliz hit a HR for the second straight game in 3 at AB and now leads the team with 3 HR in addition he took over as the Sox top hitter for average over Ronald Bermudez 344-341, Bermudez hit a double in 4 AB, outfielder Wilfi Santana had a double among his three hits in 4 AB with 2 RBI a run scored and a stolen base, second baseman Wilfred Pichardo had two hits in 4 AB a run scored, a RBI, a stolen base and a base on ballsand Juan Bonifacio had a double among his 2 hits 3 runs scored 1 RBI, 2 base on balls and a stolen base.

It seems like the word LANKY was created for the Sox Dominican RHP prospect Javier Jimenez. The 17 yrs Jimenez is 6-3 and WEIGHTS 143 POUNDS, but that hasn't stop him to be one of the Sox Starters in the DSL in 2007 in his first year as pro and his stats up today is 23 1/3 IP 17 H 13 BB 17 K 1.54 ERA and 205 ave against.

Sox outfielder Roberto Feliz is leading his division Boca Chica North ) in hitting 344 and its fourth in the DSL fellow Sox outfielder Ronal Bermudez is second on the division and fifth in the DSL. Feliz is also first in division with 11 doubles and second on the DSL, Feliz is second on the division with 3 HR and tied for fifth in the DSL, Feliz is first in the Division with 24 RBi and tied for 4th in the DSL. Feliz is also first in the division with 33 base hits (bermudez is tied for second with 29) Sox second baseman Wilfred Pichardo is tied for first in the DSL with 4 triples, its tied for first in the division with 12 stolen bases and tied for 4th in the DSL and leads the division in runs scored with 22 and its tied for forth in the DSL.

 

 

Sox RHP Stolmy Pimentel is tied for second in the division with 3 wins and its tied for third in a large group in the DSL, its 4th in the division with. 67 ERA and seventh in the DSL, its fifth in the division in strike outs with 26 and 12th in the DSL and RHP Dennis Neuman its first in the division in the division in saved games with 5 and its 4th in the DSL.

The Red Sox are now Boca Chica North new division leader after defeating the Dodgers Wednesday 8-7 and now have a 1/2 game lead over them.

 

Sox outfielder Ronald bermudez hit his first profesional HR and a single in 2 AB for now to take batting average lead in the division also had two runs scored 2 RBI and two bases on balls, Roberto feliz who was the top hitter in the division went 3-0 but scored 1 run, catcher Derwin Pinto had a tripple in 3 AB scored 1 run and had 1 RBI. third baseman Nelson Bonilla had a single in 4 AB with 2 RBI and run scored and Outfielder Wilfi Santana had a single and run scored in 4 AB.

Thursday the Sox plays against the Giants

The Red Sox stay in first place in Boca chica North division didn't last very long as they lost a double header Thursday to the Giants and now are 18-11 tied for second place with the Giants 1 game behind the Dodgers.

 

In the first game the Sox had only three hits and their pitchers gave 10 bases on balls in addition to comitting 2 errors and lost 10-1. Sox First baseman Eddie Lora went 2-2 with their only RBI and Sox second baseman Wilfred Pichardo had their only hit and scored their only run. RHP Charlie Rosario was the Sox starter and lost the game (1-1 for the season) 3 IP 4 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB 4 K followed by Victor De la Cruz 0 IP 0 H 5 R 2 ER 4 BB 0 K, Ernesto Reyes 2/3 IP 0 H 1 R 0 ER 4 BB 1 K and Manuel Jimenez 3 1/3 IP 1 H 1 R 1 ER 0 Bb 2 K.

 

In the Second game Outfielder Ronald Bermudez had a HR (#2 for the season) and a double in 3 AB and Sox first baseman Eddie Lora had a HR (#1 for the season) and a single in 3 AB but that was main the Sox offense as they lost 6-2. Venezuelan RHP Yeiper Castillo was the Sox starter 3 IP 4 H 3 R 3 ER 3 BB 8 K (L) and Alberto Gonzalez 3 IP 4 H 3 R 3 ER 2 BB 2 K. Sox catcher Derwin Pinto threw out another runner and now has thrown 5 out of the 6 runners who has try to steal against him.

Azblue, I haven't seen Pinto play, but have talk to people who has, and according to them he has outstanding defensive skills, specially his arm, but his bat isn't as developed, however he just turned 17 yrs old so there's hope for his bat, he isn't playing as much as Maykol Sanchez.

The Royals pitching issue 14 bases on balls and their defense commited 4 errors as the Red Sox beat the Royals 12-5 Saturday and now are 19-11 on the season in second place of Boca chica North 1/2 game off the Dodgers.

 

The Sox attack was lead by outfielder Juan Bonifacio who had 3 singles in 5 AB 1 run scored and one RBI, fellow Outfielder Wilfi Santana had 2 singles in 5 AB 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, second baseman Wilfred Pichardo 3-1 with 2 runs scored 3 bases on balls and 2 stolen bases (#14 on the season), first baseman Eddie Lora also got 3 bases on balls in addition of a base hit and 1 run scored, Short stop German Reyes only had a hit but was a HR his #2 on the season.

 

Stolmy Pimentel was the Sox starter 4 IP 2 h 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 4 K, followed by Brandon Ulloa 2 3 H 4 R 0 ER 4 BB 1 K and finished by LHP Nestor lastreto (the winner) 3 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 1 K.

 

Higly rated third Baseman Pedro Chourio made 2 errors (now 9 on the season) the 17 yrs Venezuelan its also hitting for a 175 hitting average.

 

The Red Sox DSL was the only team in the whole system who won Saturday. The Sox plays the Yankees #2 on Monday.

The Dodgers beat the Yankees #2 Monday 7-1 to remain in second place in Boca Chica North division 20- 11 1/2 game behind the Dodgers. Tuesday the Sox plays Tampa bay.

 

Antonio Batista was the Sox starter and winner 3-0 and the RHP for the second game in a row strikes 10 hitters in 5 IP 3 H 1 R 0 ER 1 BB 10 K and closed by Colombian RHP Randy Consuegra 4 IP 2 H 0 R 1 BB 5 K SV (#1 on the season)

 

For the second time this season Dominican outfielder Juan has a 2 Home Run (now 4 on the season) game this time in 5 AB with 4 RBI, fellow outfielder Roberto Feliz also hit a Home Run in 4 AB 2 RBI 2R. Bonifacio and Feliz are now tied with for 4 HR each to lead the squad, second baseman Wilfred Pichardo hard 2 hits in 4AB with 1 R 1 Bb 1 stolen base (14) but also had a error (#10 on the season) SS German Reyes also had an error (#9 on the season) Ronald Bermudez had a double and a RBI in 5 AB.

For the second day in a row the Sox entry had the hitting shoes on and beat Tamapa bay 12-1 to remain in second place of its division with a record of 21-11 still 1/2 game behind the Dodgers. Wednesday the Sox plays the Marlins.

 

Sox outfielders Roberto Feliz and Ronald Bermudez had big day with Feliz hitting a HR (second day in a row with a HR now leads the team with 5 HR and its tied for the division lead) in addition had 2 singkes in 4 AB 4 RBI and 2 runs scored, Bermudez had 3 singles in 4 AB with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI, Third baseman Nelson Bonilla had a double and a single in 4 AB with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, Short stop Luis Diaz had a double and single in 5 AB with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI Outfielder Pedro Gonzalez had a tripple in 5 AB with a run scored and 1 RBI, Juan Bonifacio had a single and RBI in 3 AB and catcher Derwin Pinto had a single in 3 AB with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.

 

Dominican Lefthander Cesar Cabral was the Sox starter and winner going 5 IP 4 H 0 R 2 BB 5 K, followed by Brandon Ulloa 2 IP 2 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 1 K and finished by Manuel Jimenez 2 IP 0 H 0 R 0 BB 1K

 

Ronald Bermudez with his 3 hits in four at bats not only leads the squad in hitting average, but the division at 361 average.

Red Sox closer Dennis Neuman blew a one run lead in the eighth inning as the Red Sox lost to the Marlins 9-8 Wednesday and now are 21-12.

 

The Red Sox attack was led by SS Luis Diaz who had two doubles and a tripple in 5 AB with a run scored and 1 RBI, outfielder Ronald Bermudez had 2 singles in 3 AB with 1 RBI, fellow outfielder Roberto Feliz had a single in 4 AB with 2 RBI and a run scored, catcher Derwin Pinto had a double in 4 AB with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and third baseman Pedro Chourio had a double in 4 AB with a run scored and 1 RBI.

 

RHP Charlie Rosario was the Sox starter 4 IP 4 H 2 R 2 ER 1 BB 5 K, followed by LHP Edwin Lopez 3 1/3 IP 3 H 5 R 2 ER 3 BB 3 K, Dennis Neuman lost his third game 2/3 IP 2 H 2 R 2 ER 1 BB 2 K.

 

Thursday the Sox plays against the Dodgers.

 

Correction, the Dodgers also lost on Wednesday, but Toronto won and now its tied with the dodgers for the division lead.

Ronald Bermudez who isn't only the team top hitter for average on the squad but on the division and has been the Sox CF for most of the season, but he isn't even the squad top center fielder, that would be Dominican Miguel Meregildo. Meregildo a 6-0 164 18 yrs is playing in his second year in DSL and its the team faster runner, however the right handed hitter doesn't know how to use his speed at the plate and its only hitting for a 132 average.
