This should really make the offseason exciting regardless of whether the Celtics try to acquire him or not. I've been dragged through rumors about the Celtics inquiring about Artest, the whole lottery fiasco, and Iverson rumors twice in the span of a year so I'm not going to believe anything until I see it. I still have my doubts that he'll actually leave Los Angeles but all I'll say is that it sure is a good year to have a top draft pick, expiring contracts, and a good group of young players. We'll see...

I think it would only be a step up if Pierce and Jefferson were not involved in the deal, which would probably be impossible. So I think you are right, Kobe will never be a Celtic. However, if Ainge somehow pulled this out of his ass the Celtics would at least be relevant agian.

A more logical trade (Kobe for Paul Pierce and the No. 5 pick) doesn't work because Kobe would never agree to lead another youth movement.

 

i honestly think, from a Lakers point of view, thats probably the best deal they can get without moving him to a western contender. The lakers rebuild if they trade Kobe and having Al, Gerald, Bynum, Farmar, Odom, Walton, Kwame, Smush, Vujacic and Turiaf, 5th pick and 19th pick would be a good start

 

and you know Ainge is going try to come up with a deal as he seems to always go after the big time players who want out (ex. AI, Gasol)

 

I think Kobe would give up a no-trade for this deal. Him playing with Pierce could be like a new version of Pippen and Jordan somewhat. Trade Wally for a big-guy (Wally and Pinkney to TORONTO for Garbajosa and Nesterovich) and the C's would have:

Lebron James had his coming out party, and no I am not saying he is gay. If he tops that performance off with a series win in either game 6 or game 7, he will cement himself. I still think the media likes to portray him as a lovable loser, a guy who isnt clutch, a guy who is flawed. Last night was proof that this is not the case.
