This is a shame, all of a sudden, with the early struggles of Proctor and Farnsworth, the bullpen doesn't look so spectacular anymore.

 

Who would have though, Farnsworth's best pitch of the inning comes on a slider.

Farnsworth is clearly on his way down in terms of the bullpen order, or he wouldn't be pitching in the seventh inning now. They need either Farnsworth or Proctor to round into shape, if they want to have that solid three man rotation in the back of the bullpen.

if he wanted to see what Farns could do, why the hell would you put him in in a situation like this? Send him to mop-up duty and see if he fights his way out of it.

Bruney doesn't exactly have significant secondary pitches either. But his control is better than Farnsworths so I see your point. But either way you at it you're going to see someone throwing a lot of fastballs.

If he started to get big innings his weaknesses may be exposed. But I guess there is no way to know unless you give him a shot.

agreed. Bruney is a guy who will give up the walk, but you still have to earn it. Farns will walk you on 4 pitches that arent even close. And Farns has proven that he can be hit. his 4 seamer looks like a beach ball cause it doesnt move. Bruney has movement and deception.
