Red Sox designated RHP J.D. Durbin for assignment.

 

As anticipated, the Red Sox didn't have any intention of using Durbin now after claiming him off waivers on Monday. They'll hope he clears waivers and reports to Triple-A Pawtucket.

 

Red Sox activated Mike Timlin from the DL

 

After missing the first 2 series, the old guard, Mike Timlin will be ready to take the ball in the middle innings.

 

Red Sox option Javier Lopez to AAA

 

Lopez threw 3 scoreless innings, but had another option, so the sox used it.

If the Rays are still pissed at the Sox (likely), they should grab Durbin. He can't be worse than Lugo or Camp.

23 innings of sub 1 ERA baseball. What else do you want? It was a waiver claim that passed by 29 other clubs. It isnt like he has barely held his own since being acquired. He has been lights out untouchable.

 

And it isnt like I am calling him an ace. Coming up aces is a term essentially saying that it worked out. And to this point, I dont think there has been a waiver claim since Arroyo in the northeast that had this much impact.

 

And lets put it this way, you'd take him over pretty much anyone in your middle relief corps right now. Be honest.
