Couple of notes from spring training:

Jon Lester has switched numbers from 62 to 31. Manny Delcarmen has switched numbers from 57 to 17.

 

Also Papelbon will work on 2 pitches to add to his arsenal that he abandoned when he was the closer. He should then have change up, fastball, slider, splitter, curveball, and sinking fastball

Well if the Sox let them have the regular numbers ( instead of the ones up in the 70's LOL) they must expect these two to be on the ML team at some point. I think Lester stays for extended ST and starts in AAA when it gets warmer, and MDC starts the season on the ML roster with Hansen starting in and hopefully staying a full season at AAA to refine his pitching.

He has more muscle than I'd have expected. A bit chunky, but not Schilling, Clemens or Wells either.

Spring training and batting practice. I love it, except for the new flap thingy on the side of all the BP caps. I may just have to pick one up.

 

*edit: At least I think they're also the BP caps. I could be wrong, though.

 

Either way, I'm officially excited for the season to start!

Because there more ordinary numbers then the 62 and 57 they where wearing. Those numbers are ones they give to minor leaguers who are just on call up.

 

Lester wore 31 in the minors. Not sure why Delcarmen chose 17.

 

If the team allows you to choose a number they probably expect you to be on the ML roster at some point during the season.
