it's nice but to me, picking the best rotation in baseball right now is like Vegas calling the Chargers the favorite for next season

The problem with ESPN is that their expert analysis is always based on names. If you rotation has "names" in it, then it must be good. We'll see how we are set up in september!

What a joke.

There are question marks in the Sox rotation, just as there are with everyone else's. It's the Matsuzaka hype that's influenced Kurkjian's opinion.

every rotation has question marks, but I agree we have compiled a great rotation which if everything goes right WILL be the best in baseball. But having 4 potential aces in the phenom DiceK, the vet Curt, Mr. Intense Papelbon, and Beckett is a great thing to see going into the season, but who knows how much fo it's potential it will fill.

True, every rotation has their question marks, but if you're banking on IFs, then you can't make the claim that you're the best before a single pitch is thrown. The Tigers only have one 40-year-old guy on the rotation and four other young guys that pitched well last year until they ran into the juggernaut that was the Cardinals and their pitching errors. To me, they have the fewest question marks (will Maroth be as good this year as Verlander and Bonderman were last year?) and that's why I consider them the best in baseball.

Boston's rotation is still better than the Yankees, though.

with pitching, you typically revert to baseline with 50% of the if's working. That is why I think the yankees are a bit more consistent, because Wang, Pettitte, and Mussina are not flashy, but eat innings effectively. They arent aces by any means, but their contributions can be predicted easily prior to the season. The yankees if's include spots 4 and 5 in the rotation. The sox if's include 1-4 with a healthy Wake being a very predictable pitcher. Assume 2 of the 4 come true. My pick is Matsuzaka a full yes and beckett and paps splitting one. Beckett will show marginal improvement and Paps will have a good season by the end, but will be handled VERY carefully.

as long as detroit is in the league then they got the arms

i will never figure out how they lost the world series

the errors made by that pitching staff shouldve drawn a special prosecutor to investigate

Although right now the Sox look like they have a stellar rotation it's way too early to say it's the best in baseball. There are still question with it and only way we are going to know if we are the best is when the season starts.
