Starbury wasn't Starbury when he was in Minny. He got to the 20/10 status in NJ and PHX. Granted he was good but not like he was at his peak. Plus if you asked alot of guys around the league' date=' they would say they wouldn't want to play with him. He's a shoot first PG. How do you expect to win with a shoot first PG? That's why we got rid of him. And I'm glad we did. :D[/quote']

In 98, he had his highest APG average with 9.3 and also put up 17.7 ppg.

You claim that Hakeem won the championship on his own. Looking at the roster' date=' there were several complentary pieces. Smith, Maxwell, and Thorpe, all were at double-digit points per game. (Cassel was at 9.6)[/quote']

Sure, there were some role players and complementary pieces but it can't be argued that with Olajuwon, they would be a totally different team and they definitely wouldn't have won the championship. He basically single-handedly dominated teams' frontcourts that season and was the main reason why the Rockets won it all.

Bosox you're retarded if you don't see his point.

Durant is dominating the college game with the body he has now. He's only going to grow and get better and going to be able to use the tools and skills he has even better.

It's not a hard concept.

Exactly I understand that, but he's using that against Oden saying that he won't get any bigger when that really isn't an issue. The man is 7'1'', 280 pounds.

It's somewhat an issue. He hasn't been exactly "dominant" on the college level. He hasn't been given the chance to, but who's to say that an extra ten pounds of muscle wouldn't go a long way?

Yeah, I still don't think it's out of the question that he could add some more muscle mass. Of course it's going to be hard because of his size but he'll have to get stronger to be a force in the NBA regardless.

Say what you want but all three of them were better than Cassell and Horry in the Houston days.

i dont think so

not even remotely

that houston team went back to back

cassell and horry won wherever they played

#s lie

these 2 guys are winners and understand what it takes to get it done

cassell is money and in the last 2 minutes of a ball game i'd just assume he have the ball than just about any other guard in the league

Glenn Robinson dominated the college game, went #1 and never lived up to the hype. Theres a difference between college and pros. I think Durant will be a superstar but so will Oden. Oden #1, Durant #2. You just don't have a chance at a big man like that more than once a decade.

Don't I know that. Cassell made a living killing my Suns in the last two minutes of close games while in Minny. I couldn't tell you how many times I would scream to take the ball outta his hands. He's done it with LAC too. I dunno, he seems to like to kill us. Prob cause we didn't keep him long.

Hmmm...you said 20/10...He was at 22/9 in his 4 years in NJ (Like I said), and 21/8 in his three years here (Like I said). Again NJ and PHX years were MUCH better statistically than his Minny years, and he became a top tier guard in NJ. So whats your point?

a little info here

durant goes against osu tonite at home at 9

the scoring comes a bit easier in the big 12 than in the big 10 so i take that into consideration when comparing the 2 men

also

growing isnt always a good thing

ask shawn bradley or maurice traylor

tonite will be a great test for him

ed suttons kid sean is the coach at osu and if hes anything like the old man he will have durant dbl and trpl teamed and will go right at him on the defensive end to make him work both ends of the floor

he made bryant reeves a lot of money when he did this against marcus camby at umass back in the day and nobody here will say that reeves was a better player than camby

What's this "once in a decade" crap? Are Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire chopped meat? They may not be of a similar mold, but I'll stick by the fact that I think Dwight Howard is going to be the dominant big man in the NBA for the next ten years.

Dwight Howard is a beast. Did anyone see his block then game winning alley-oop. The guy is insane.

And I'm in Amare's camp. :D I think he's better than Howard. He dropped 32 against Howard and Dwight had like 4 points 3 rebounds and fouled out. When Orlando came here they both had s***** games but I still think Amare is better. Howards still amazing tho. But that isnt' the argument. It's Oden or Durant... ;)

I can't even imagine what Amare would be like if he never missed time for injuries.

I know it's about Oden and Durant but I keep hearing that Oden's a once in a decade big man. That's nonsense.

who was the last good big man picked??

andrew bogut?

they really dont make a lot of agile 7 footers who have touch around the hoop like this guy

anyways

durant had 21 last evening shooting 8-16 and the horns smoked osu by 30

question

how does a forward go an entire game without picking up a single foul??

i found that tidbit rather amusing as sean sutton was having a tourrettes like breakdown just before the game ended

that guard augustin really compliments durants game

hes quick to the hole,, can dish on the move and pull up

the horns, despite being unranked, will present a problem in the march tourney for anyone

Amare > Dwight Howard.

FOR NOW.

Could be, but Howard doesn't have half the talent around him that Amare does.

I'll agree with the "for now" part, though, because Howard will be the best big man in the League soon.

Ehh to one his own. It'll be a fun debate for years to come.

yeah i should open my eyes more

howard and stoudamire are smaller type centers if you can call 6'10 240 small

very athletic men, both are under 25?? i think but it seems theyve been around for a while now

i know stoudamire is a 20/10 guy and howard is close

stoudamire plays with steve nash, wouldnt we all like to play with steve nash?

lets see how banged up nash is

without him phoenix isnt all that good

Howard came out when Okafor did. The year after 'Melo, LeBron, and D-Wade. Amare came out the year before those three, I believe -- maybe the year before that, even. So Howard hasn't been in the League long, he's only 21 -- three years younger than Amare, for what it's worth.

Amare was the '03 draft. Same draft as Yao.

They're both good and getting better but neither of them are Tim Duncan and thats who the last great big man was. Duncan has average 22 pts 12 rb and over 2 blcks per game for his career. Neither of them will have those numbers. Amare can score but doesn't play the D that Duncan does. Howard can board like Duncan but can't score as much. When Oden comes into the league he is going to already be one of the top defensive C in the league immediately. Oden is the best all around big man since Duncan.

Both Amare and Howard are big men in the mold of KG because they are more athletic than a traditional big man. Theres a lot to be said for that but IMO they aren't as good of all around players as Duncan.

Dwight Howard's only 21 and is already an 18 and 12 player. And I'm looking at the Magic's roster and for the life of me, I can't find anybody as good as Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker to keep defenses honest.

i watched odens team nearly gag up a huge lead to pitiful penn state last nite

he had 15-10-4??

he has the knack of keeping his blocks in play

i also noticed the airforce academy increased their home win streak to 29 by smoking the utes

air force plays the best defense in the nation allowing only 55pts a game

utah had 40 last evening

bc continues to fail in the big stages

they seem on the cusp in football and hoop yet cant get to greatness despite several chances to succeed

they had no rebounding last nite and duke shot 75% in the 2nd half

hello sean williams

i hope the smoke was worth it.....fukin chooch
