Braves Deal LaRoche for Pirate's Gonzalez

A reliever is not worth a power hitting outfielder with a decent batting average. Very few exceptions to this rule.

This is a pretty good deal for both sides. The Braves had a horrible pen last year - now it is really good. Plus their farm is pretty deep with positional players (mostly up the middle, true, but a deep farm nonetheless). The Pirates have someone other than Jason Bay who can hit now. Not a bad swap.

 

And, Yankees fans, isn't the rumor that the Braves are going to swap Gonzalez for Melky+?
