The tried and true' date=' "this is a forum, it's meant to share opinions...etc." notification. Thanks, that never occured to me. FWIW, I wasn't scolding anyone for responding; I just merely chucked my $0.02 into the community wishing well.[/quote']

Lighten up, bro, you said what you said, your point was clear, and it was responded to appropriately, but I assure you without any malice.

BTW, excellent use of sarcasm, I enjoyed it very much.

lahls.

He won the SB after that.

Besides, he had an excellent year in '04 when he led them to the NFC North title.

Last year the D sucked...and he wasn't great. This year he managed the game better.

Lemme say this though...

Favre in prime > Brady in prime

Posted
brett favre is 2 desmond howard kickoff returns away from being fran tarkenton

Brady is two (three if you count the snow bowl) Vinatieri kicks away from being Jeff Hostetler.

i think field goals are probably a bit more on the quarterback than kickoff returns

has ole blood and guts captured the interception record yet??

Probably.

FTR...Montana wouldn't have thrown a pick on Sunday.

Agree, Crunch, he is dragging that organization down, or more accurately, whomever in the FO is in love with him is doing the org. a disservice.

Not that I think Ingle Martin is the future of this organization, but the sooner the Pack moves in a different direction, the better for the team, IMO. BTW, they clear another $10m or so in cap room if Favre retires.

agreed

montana probably wouldnt have left that game against the pats acting as if his arm was broken like favre did

then returning the following week with no problems outside his obvious shortcomings as a qb

of course his record was kept in tact and thats what his career is all about now

im sure aaron rogers finds him courageous

i don't recall Sean, but surely there must be some explanation for Brady's success other than his own talent.

Hey, let's get even more ridiculous:

Kurt Warner was as good as any of these guys in his prime. Too bad his prime lasted only one season. Oh and let's totally discount the fact that Faulk had 87 catches and rushed for 5.5 yards per game, he had Bruce and Holt an Hakim and Proehl to throw to, Dick Vermeil did a great job coaching and Mike Martz was then considered an offensive genius (Martz was subsequently "figured out" by every team in the NFL and his candy-a$$ play calling at crucial junctures turned a potentially great team into a one-hit wonder).

But it was all Kurt. Kurt was great in his prime.

Man, Brady can sure sling the 7 yard out. Wow.

Has he ever won a playoff game that he needed to drive down the field for a tocuhdown for?

Brady's a great QB. I happen to think he's overrated by a lot of people, but he manages the game very well.

It's cool though...if I wanted people to agree with the way I felt about the Patriots i certainly wouldn't try here. My opinion is he's overrated. If Manning wins in two weeks, Brady becomes the #2 QB in the league...although I think he's #1 now.

i think in the modern version of the nfl it has more to do with when you play a team as much as who youre playing

the pats looked s***** early this year but a rather tit division combined with playing teams at the right time got them 12 wins

the colts gave up a record of consecutive games giving up 100 yds rushing

the pats got 8 yds in the 2nd half and in november may have gotten less

i thought cinci was a legit superbowl team this season

15 arrests and losing odell thurman changed that

who the f*** knows

im glad i can finally stop screaming at reche caldwell in my nightmares

As I recall Peyton had very little success versus the Pats throwing downfield in the first half.

Then they made and adjustment and threw underneath, IMO taking advantage of the Pats linebackers. Whoever made that adjustment was right on.

I don't care if its a 7 yard out or a 50 yard bomb, you've gotta execute and generally that is exactly what Brady does.

He manages the game very well. He executes very well. He's one of the top 5 QBs in the league.

I still think he's a bit overrated, and I still think he benefits greatly from the system he is in.

Is he the best passer in the league? No...I can probably think of five QBs who are better passers (Palmer, Manning, Brees, Bulger, McNabb maybe), but very few who are better QBs.

If Manning wins in two weeks I honestly think he'll become the best QB in the league in a lot of people's minds.

And for all my Tom Brady bashing, I'd take him for my team.

Understood, and good points.

Essentially you could take any position and look at a guys performance relative to his peers and to accurately compare you'd have to consider the team he's on, the scheme they use, their coaching ability, etc. so it'll always be hard to to say who's truly the best.

ask troy pala--samoan if brady can hit the deep pass

they took givens and branch and gave him caldwell and gaffney

and they still almost pulled it off

almost being the key word

Brady has orchestrated 22 game-wining drives to break a tie or take the lead in the fourth quarter or overtime. Six of his game-winning efforts have come in postseason.

How many for touchdowns?

Makes no difference if they score a touchdown or kick a FG if they only need 3 points to win. Important thing is, he put them in the position to win the game.

wich most of them are because of vinaterri

Actually, it's a lot tougher to drive down in the last minutes of a game needing 7 as opposed to 3.

If you start on the 20 yard line, you need 80 yard for 7. You might only need 50 for 3.

I digress...but I think a lot more credit for this Patriots run should go on the defense (basically won the STL Super Bowl) and Vinatieri.

are you guys s***ing me or what??

how many are on vinitieri??

I was merely asking a question.

^^Yeah.

I do think that if the Patriots are to contend next year they will have to severely upgrade the linebacker and WR positions.

They will also need to replace Asante Samuel. But since they are locked up in the O and D lines for the next few years, and they have Brady and Maroney for the backfield, I still think they'll win the AFC East.

The Chargers, Colts, Ravens, and possibly the Steelers will be right there with the Patriots next year. I happen to think unless the Pats vastly improve, all of these teams will be better.

I'll agree...to an extent.

SD will be good because Rivers will be improved and they'll still have LT.

Baltimore never sacred anyone with their offense. They need an upgrade in talent on that side of the ball which I'm sure they'll address in the draft.

Indy is a year older as well, but if they lockup Freeney I think they'll be OK.

Roethlisberger is the youngest SB winning QB.

The Patriots are too slow at LB to contend next year. Indy exploited that terribly on Sunday.

Asante Samuel was the second best CB in the AFC behind Champ Bailey.

But you can never take the Pats for granted, not with the success they've had the last 7 years.

Doesn't mean I have to like it. ;)

And that's pretty funny.
