  1. 1. Do you want BCS or Playoff?

I think college football is eventually going to move to a playoff system, as evidenced by the extending of the season the last few years.

Let me make it clear, I do not necessarily agree with the BCS, but I think bowls are an improtant part of college football and should be kept in place.

I don't.

While I agree with Papelbon that bowls are important for college football, there's just too many controversies. If they can somehow come up with a better way to get a championship game, and then the bowls, I'd be all for it, but until then, playoffs.

BCS all the way. On another note, I'm in favor of the World Series participants being determined by Rochambeau.

Seriously, how can anyone not pick Playoff. If the importance of bowl games is a concern, then have the bowl games be part of the playoff. They can do it on a rotation like they do now with the BCS Championship game.

Then how would teams be determined for playoffs, how many teams in? And on another note, would teams like Rutgers who went undefeated for awhile, and even upset Louisville get in? I think we need to get rid of bowl games all together. I don't want to encourage my team, to get to the music city bowl, my objective would be National Championship, and getting to some other gay bowl would be a slap to the face.

I could live with a top-4 playoff, but I'd prefer a top-8. They can go with how they currently select the BCS 8 (6 conference winners from the SEC, Big-10, Pac-10, Big East, ACC, and Big-12 plus two at large bids). The 8 that make a BCS game every year are pretty much always deserving.

I would like to see the other big-6 power conferences go to a system like the SEC, ACC, and Big-12 have, with a conference championship game each year.

I think this is the way you can do it that will work the best. You can still use the BCS computers to rank the teams 1-8.

This year you'd probably have the matchups of:

Ohio State/Boise State

Florida/Wake Forest

Michigan/Louisville

LSU/Notre Dame

I think all of the top seeds would go, leaving:

Ohio State/LSU

Florida/Michigan

Then you'd get a National Championship game of:

Ohio State/Michigan

You can use the losers of the games to fill in the BCS bowls in the appropriate spot in the rotation, for instance the losers in the first round would play 2 games, and the losers of the semis will play the other game. Sort of like consolation games.

edit - I, like a moron, completely ignored the fact that USC and Oklahoma are also in the BCS this yr. In Which case you would use the computers to have teams receive byes, or something like that.

Well michigan just showed me that the BCS made the right choice, so far. Michigan imo was just all hype. But I think that Rutgers should be in there. And you gotta throw in one upset in that match up you got up there Kilo. I do agree with Sports Center, and think LSU can upset Ohio St. Anyways, just my thoughts/

for this season, it looks like the BCS got it right. But it could also be assumed that Michigan would have played better away from USC's home field essentially and if the title was on the line.

Boise State has looked good.

Michigan was a real good team. USC was a lot better than I thought.

Rutgers, if they beat WVU, would have been in anyway. That's a moot point.

this same boise team was buried by bc last year on their own blue field

this ou team was their worst in 8 years

but in 1 game??

anythings possible

i thought michigan would handle usc

i think usc with its game on track can beat anyone

florida would be undefeated if not for a blocked punt in auburn

who knows how good they are??

lsu??

would you want to play them in new orleans??

lets see how they handle the irish 1st

ohio st has been #1 since august and has done nothing not to deserve that title

wisconsin only lost once this year and beat a very good arkansas team

we do need a playoff but that would put a lot of these experts out of work

I dont think Oklahoma has had its worst team in 8 yrs. That team can play. I thought Boise was pretty damn good last night. They looked like a team that belonged and deserved to be ranked higher than they were.

Anyone opposed to a playoff needs to watch that game.

How much momentum would Boise have now?

After watching that game, how do you believe in momentum?

Boise throws an interception and OU returns it for a touchdown, Boise scores a miracle TD, Peterson runs a 25 yard touchdown, Boise responds. I thought momentum was supposed to go in one direction?

well ou did lose 3 games this year as did boston college,bc lost 3 games they were favored in.

i think boise would struggle to be a challenger in the more competetive conferences

i mean how do you think they would handle 1 weekend in knoxville and the next in say gainesville or auburn where their offensive linemen outweigh boises by 50lbs??

this is why the sec gets too much respect in my opinion

they get overrated due to the strength of schedule while boise features san jose state and the fighting bananslugs of uc santa clara.....

i will say that hanging 43 on ou speaks for itself however

without a playoff we'll never know

Posted
ou technically won the game against Oregon but the PAC 10 refs f***ed em. They lost to Texas who fell off the face of the earth without McCoy. I always considered them a 1 loss team with a stellar defense and a powerful run game. Boise shredded that defense.

as i said

hanging 43 on that D speaks for itself and made me a believer out of their offensive ability

as far as OU goes

sure they lost to texas who was also down this year and the refs buried them against the ducks

how many did the ducks hang on them??

anyways

from soup to nuts the big 12 was down,

the cowboys of osu were ok,,colorado was awful, kstate was awful the cyclones of isu suck, kansas is ok for a 7-6?? team i guess and missou wasnt all that bad

but

ou usually faces a top 5 team in lincoln nebraska and the shootout with texas is usually a player in the national championship theater

what was boises strength of schedule compared to say wisconsin, who got absolutley no respect this season either??

im all in favor of the playoff format in college football
