Crasnicks newest article at espn.com talks about next years big name FA. He said with Wells off the market, look for Hunter to either resign or end up in Texas. And puts the Red Sox names in the hat for A. Jones( saying Boras is going to want a 8 year 160 M deal for the 30 year old). Bit hi I say, I don't see the Sox going past 6 years( if they really do go after him). On a sidenote, with Abreu most likely to not be back with NYY next season they will have an OF spot open, but he doesn't mention any of the top guys being sought after by the NYY. Does anyone really think they won't try to land a big name for the OF?:dunno:

Yes. Move Damon's noodle arm to RF. I like it. Make it happen.

Damon and Matsui present a bit of a conundrum for the Yankees. The premier OF talent available next year is Andruw Jones, and I expect the Yankees to be interested. With their weaker arms, neither of Damon or Matsui profile well as RFs.

It's not a great fit, but as his legs get older and he can't run balls down as well in CF, you gotta put him somewhere. I guess I'm just thinking he'd be less of a liability in RF than in CF once he loses his speed..

In Yankee stadium, the ideal scenario would be to put JD in LF with his arm and death valley. But, that puts Matsui in RF, who, while accurate with his arm, isn't stopping too many first to thirds on singles to right.

OFF TOPIC: well kind of, I was reading an article on Miguel Cabrera, it was saying that in 2009 hes a FA and could be looking at AROD money. Some are saying he might get 8 yrs 25M a year or 6 yrs 29M a yr, just wondered what everyone else thought about it.

It would not surprise me at all if several of the big market clubs are trying to structure their payrolls/MiLB talent around trying to acquire Cabrera. Personally, I expect Florida to trade him for at least 3-elite prospects prior to him hitting FA in order to maximize their return for him.

I was of the camp that Abreu's contract would be terminated after this season, but with the way things are going, if Abeu shows he is still a force at 33, then a 16mil option on a player with .300 20HR 100RBI 30SB and a .420OBP is quite a bargain. Also, there is one name that may start rising through the ranks faster. It is Jose Tabata. He turned 18 4 months ago, had a pretty good yr in the SAL as a 17 yr old and has started off strong in the VWL. He is the Yankees top position prospect and will likely see time in Single A Tampa this yr. Assuming he plays in trenton in 2008, he might be the replacement for Abreu after 08, so having a 1 yr stopgap in Abreu might be useful.

I think MC will get traded like ORS said, hes going to get huge money no matter where he goes. Not sure who will be intersted or if they would have him switch positions. I think MC is the next generation Manny, Albert or AROD. I know those are big expectations but he just looks like he has it. I saw him play in ST in 2003 and told my brother then he was the next big thing( next manny where my exact words). I'd love to see him on the Sox, Manny will be off the books so they could have the money for him and will need a 3B soon. I don't however see them giving up big time prospects for him, but to go after him in FA( if they choose to pursue him, thats the course I believe they would take). I know its far off but he wouldn't be a bad replacement for Manny, and besides Pujols he might be the only RH power bat that would be an decent replacement.

Of course if they blow there load next year on one of the OF's available, I doubt we would have a shot.

f***er better not hire Boras before he hits FA eitherLOL

Remember how young he is too. He is the next ARod assuming he stays in shape and stays healthy. He could be the next 25mil man.

Thats what where saying, hes going to big the next big time money man.
