Wow an actual signing that makes a little sense. I'm surprised with the market the way it is, he didn't get a 4 year 40 million contract( sarcasm):D Kudos to Seattle for making a decent signing and not getting raked over the barrel like so many other teams are getting.

So thats 2 contracts so far this off season that weren't absolutely absurd, 1. Alou 2. Guillen

Low Risk-Potentially decent reward. It's nice to see them make a signing where they aren't dishing out a max contract to a one hit wonder (Richie Sexson, Adrian Beltre).

Throw in Hideki Okijima's contract with the Red Sox, $2.5 million over 2 years with a $1.75 million option for 2009. If Sox activate that option year, he'll be under their control for 3 more seasons under arbitration

Adam Kennedy's 3 year/$10 million contract with St. Louis is also a reasonable deal

Good signing for Seattle helps to solidify their outfield and they got him for a decent amount too. Guillen is a good outfielder who will bring alot of help to the Mariners who we all know need any little help they can get.

guillen is very underrated when he's healthy. This guy stays healthy and if sexson and Beltre can start producing, this is not a bad hitting team.

Beltre, yes. But Sexson is a perennial 30-homerun hitter.

True but is he worth that contract? A lot of guys could be 30 home run hitters with that playing time, but it's what he lacks that makes you question his contract.
