Signs of Life

The past two games against Chicago have been stunning and surprising. The hitting isn't exactly back, but the pitching seems to have made a dramatic turnaround. The next two series are against KC and Baltimore, so if the Sox have any fight in them, this is the opportunity to rattle off some wins before Minnesota comes to town. Aside from the doubleheader in NY, the Sox also get 4 off days this month to rest the pen. I don't know if everyone has given up, but I'd like to see them make a serious run at this.

I'd be more optimistic if our rotation didn't consist of Beckett, Gabbard, Snyder, Jarvis and Tavarez and if our lineup was actually producing runs. That being said, I'll keep at least some hope alive until we're mathematically eliminated but it still doesn't look good at all.

that being said

youre asking the team who had the worst record in baseball in august to play .800 ball the rest of the season as they traded their best pitcher of the 2nd half,shelved their closer and sat their ace out for a couple of starts

The way I see it, we've beaten Chicago twice and split a series against a Toronto team who's almost in as big of a slide as we are. We still have to play much better baseball and the only reason we've had this recent marginal success is because Kyle Snyder, Julian Tavarez and Kason Gabbard have SOMEHOW pulled great outings out of their asses.

 

Runs need to be produced because this rotation WILL get lit up and this bullpen WILL blow some late inning leads. We're not gonna get 10th inning walkoffs and hold on to 1-0 games for the rest of the season.

 

All I'm saying is I still have a bit of faith, but this team won't do much the way they're still playing right now.
