Invented here, 16 world championships, all of which happened in the past

Nowadays the Celtics are probably the 3rd most hyped team in Boston. Sports talk with buddies/radio/tv its all Red Sox. When Bruschi was making his comeback, Theo leaving the Red Sox trumped that story. In some ways the Red Sox offseason exceeded conversations than about the Pats

The Sox have sold out close to 300 consecutive game, 3 straight seasons of making the playoffs (1 WS) and could be headed for their 4th. IMO The Celtics still have a ways to go to becoming a playoff caliber team again, and winning back what has been somewhat of a dormant fan base

This is a shame. Basketball was invented by a Canadian and only two of the active players are Canadian?!?!?! And to make it worse, one of those two wasn't even born in Canada!

BLAME CANADA

celtics??

back in 1974 my dad took me to the celts bucks game 6 in the finals

we walked in and bought tickets

this town is a hockey town when the bruins are on top

a bruins quarterfinal game is a harder ticket to get than a celts finals game

this is a sox town all the time

recently the biffs and buffys have taken a liking to the pats

the celts??

sure they sold a lot of tix when bird played but hes gone now almost 15 years

haha hockey town?

remember a few haloweens ago when the bruins had like 6 thousand people show up to a game vs the ducks?

they barely even put the bruins in the paper anymore.

its a baseball, basketball, football, and hockey town, in that order.

No. Baseball and football are higher than basketball. Even the Bruins are better to watch. I know too many people that get bored easily by basketball. Baseball is, well, baseball, and then football and hockey are contact sports. That's what people like. Basketball is putting a ball in a net.

I beleive they were first used by members of Southern road crews that were more comfortable with that clankity clank sound.

this is absolutely not a basketball state. basketball is fourth on the list. i would say it goes hockey, baseball, football, basketball. you can't look at it just by the pro sports teams, you have to look at every dynamic. 9 hockey players were drafted from MA this year. none of the other sports come close. the (hockey) beanpot is arguably the biggest tournament in the state. bu/bc always draws sellouts. when the B's are good they sell well, and now that the owners spent money this year, attendance should be much higher than the past couple years. even girls hockey is big in this state. assabet valley has about three teams in the national finals every year. southie, dorchester and quincy have all been to the national finals in the last six years. the super eight draws a big crowd every year. the Prep and ISL are two of the best high school leagues in the country. Seven D1 men's hockey teams play in the state, four D1 women's teams. three minor/pro hockey teams play in the state. no one here will probably admit it because of the country's general dislike of hockey, but it's the truth. MASSACHUSETTS IS A HOCKEY STATE.

I really don't care. All the sports here are great, and that's all that matters. Trying to pick a state sport is like trying to pick a state dessert...it's stupid and no one will ever see eye to eye.
Exactly right. Some people think Soccer is great. Go figure?
