I didn't see a topic on him, but if there is one I apologize.

Name: Craig Andrew Breslow

Born: August 8, 1980

Hometown: New Haven, CT

Height: 6-1

Weight: 180 lbs.

Age: 25

Bats: Left

Throws: Left

Pos: Relief Pitcher

Experience: 1 year

College: Yale

He had a breif stint on the 25 man roster this year and made one appearance out of the bullpen. He pitched 1 2/3 innings and had 2 strikeouts. He's going to be called up when rosters expand.

the walk number is what scares me a little bit...since he lacks overpowering stuff he tends to nibble sometimes and real disciplined teams make him work. He's only 26 though and could learn a bit more...maybe developa new pitch or further develop his slider to make it more of an "out pitch".

Craig Breslow looks terrible to scouts. He's got a good curve, but his other pitches aren't MLB-caliber. That raw talent level is why he's with his fifth MLB organization.

The thing with Breslow is that he's smart, and he figures out ways to beat hitters. Note that he got WORSE in his second year at AAA, his ERA going from 2.69 to 4.06--the batters caught on after a while. MLB batters can't be tricked as long. He's only got 40 MLB IP, it was with four different teams in three different years, and his WHIP is already 1.60, so that low MLB career ERA might be misleading.

I like Craig Breslow. I'm sorry that he didn't get more of a chance with Boston in 2006, but I can't fault how the FO used him in 2007, nor can I fault their releasing him once he was out of options.
