Anyone else watching Federer vs. Nadal in the French Open final today besides me? I'm mad pumped for this match. I want to see Federer win pretty badly, because Nadals been beasting him of late. This is gonna become like a Sox/Yanks rivalry, because there is no one that can compete with either guy on any surface. Nadal beasts on clay, Federer beasts on Grass, and theyre both better than the rest on hard. So yeah, I cant wait an hour and 29 mins for this to start.

Nadal beats Federer in 4 sets win back to back French Open titles. For his career Nadal is 6-1 against Federer but the next test for Nadal is can he beat Federer on the grass at Wimbledon.

I would agree with you yankshater. Federer seems invicable until he tangles with Nadal. So, keep them off of each other and on grass and federer wins everytime.

I'm not sure what your smoking...

Mens tennis is as competitive as its been in a long time. Federer finally has someone pushing him to improve his already amazing game, in Nadal. James Blake is beating people left and right, and about to pass Roddick as the best US player. Ljubicic is playing the tennis of his life, he just always runs into Rog or Nadal, same goes for Davydenko and Nalbandian (who has been real good vs. Federer). Tomas Berdych, Gael Monfils, Marcos Baghdatis, and Novak Djokovic are all young and coming up playing the best tennis of their lives. Same with Mario Ancic and Paul-Henri Mathieu (who played a great match against Nadal in the 3rd round).

There is no hope for US Men's Tennis. Roddick keeps hitting a wall called "Roger Federer", and I don't know much about Blake, but is he in the same class as Federer or Nadal?

Blake is 8th in the world now, and he just weathered the clay season, which is by far his worst surface. Going into grass and hardcourt season is where he turned it up last year, and I expect him to have an even better time this year. 2 of the last 3 times hes played Federer, he has played him tough, so there is no doubt in my mind that if he has a great day he can pick up a W. Also, Blake has never lost to Nadal. He beat Nadal in 4 sets at the US Open last year, and in straights at Indian Wells this year, so I think given the opportunity, James can take either of these guys.

i was pulling for federer to win this one , all of federer's 4 losses this year has been against nadal , so if it wasent for nadal federer would be 44-0  its gonna be interesting in wimbledon to see if nadal can beat him on a non clay court

Of the 4 matches theyve played this year, Nadal has won all 4, and 3 of them have came on clay I believe.

thank you....i'm curious to surface the other win came on.

I'm pretty sure it was hardcourt at the Key Biscayne tournament earlier this year.

Yeah, it was, I knew that, not sure why I didnt add it into my post. Nadal was knocked out by some obscure player last year at Wimbledon, so I'm sure he will be having a tough time this year.

Federer is 44-0 against players not named Nadal, and 0-4 against him (this year).

Federer however, is practically unbeatable on grass, and that surface is to him what clay is to Nadal.

What was the fastest serve you've ever recorded? Back in high school, when I tried out for the tennis team, I was clocked at 128 mph. But of course, that's nothing compared to the pros.
Posted
Ive clocked in at 110 last summer, so I'm guessing I've probably added around 5-10 MPH at least on my first serve, but I dont really hit it that often, its much more effective when I hit my 2nd serve with more pace, spin, and kick on it.

Well, I've been playing since like 4th grade (that was just goofing around and stuff though), but I didn't start playing competitively until my freshman year of high school.

Oh, I started last year, so im not very good, but im getting lessons from a trainer. But that's cool

Yeah, thats solid. I have a few coaches, and play almost every day every week, so my game has been mad improving the last year.

110 is pretty damn good.....any colleges recruit you for tennis

Not really. I dont wanna go D I, because 1) I'm not good enough, and 2) thats more a lifestyle and I dont want that. Im thinking either D II or III, definitely one. A lot of the schools I'm looking at, here in New England, are solid D II tennis schools that I could probably play for. I have gotten letters from colleges based on my ranking, where they just pull up the ranking list online and send letters out to a certain level of kids in the rankings, but thats not that much, they more want you to go to their school than recruit you for tennis.

No s*** man, I would absolutely trash both of them. I could beat Nadal on clay and Federer on grass.

Edit: I'm not joking.

Well, you barely beat my brother...and he sucks.

this thread should just change from the french open thread to the official tennis thread since wimbledon is coming up. I have to go with Federer until someone can prove me otherwise but on the woman's side it is more of an open field. Federer is just too dominant on grass.
