Yeah, in theory, but baseball doesn't work like that. He pitched carefully and was afraid to put it over the plate to a guy who could put the game beyond reach with one swing.

 

we'll see how he does this inning.

The sox suck at the plate lately, and the night they get a great outing they crap it away. The yanks are making all the plays while the sox let the go-ahead run get on base under two of our players. It doesn't look good--not over, but not good!

Beckett had a few bad starts that inflated it. He's been lights out when he's on. Clement has sucked.

I wholeheartedly agree with you there. I believe curtain calls are for when you do something spectacular. They gave one to Bernie for tying the game with a solo homer in like the 4th inning. That is nothing.

In general, I think that there are very few, if ANY middle relievers that warrant having faith. By definition a middle reliever is used if the SP doesn't go deep enough to get to the closer. Any middle reliever who is worth his salt will likely not be a middle reliever for long. I just don't hold him entirely responsible... especially now that he has 3 K's. If Sox pitching loses this game 2-1 then its not their fault. Holding the NYY to 2 should get you a W. (knock on wood)

I was thinking the same thing, but we don't have the bat right now. If Wily Mo was around I would probalby throw him in there.
