Capuano I like' date=' don't know much about Cook, what's his story?[/quote']

Cook has an era of 3.31 pitching for Colorado. Hes pitched great this year and the end of last year. Hes young, only 28 i think. A ground ball pitcher with good control. WHIP is 1.37 which isn't bad for a #4 starter. I like him as long as he stays healthy. I remember he missed the beggining of last year for some reason, injury or something weird i forget.

if i could pick anybody to trade for, it would be Brandon Webb. Id deal Lester, Pedroia and Delcarmen for him.

D backs are in trying to win the division. Do you really think they're going to give up their ace for those people?

obviously not, but i can dream

He hasn't given up a run since May 4th. The stats don't lie.

Yeah just those 3 unearned runs he gave up which almost cost us the game. Also I know Seanez has pitched better but his ERA is still worse than Tavarez.

At least you guy's don't have to deal with Farnsworth.

I made a bet this offseason that Farnsworth would get canned before Tavarez (closing in Atlanta is too much pressure, so he goes to New York?), but neither would last all season. I still like my chances, but Julian is making it closer than I would like.

But recently' date=' Seanez has been better![/quote']

one of his recent outings was walking the bases loaded, making an easy 5-0 cushion in the 9th to fingernail biting frenzy. Those runs were unearned because of the dropped strike 3 call that went past by Mirabelli.

Also each outing he's had, its never clean. He keeps allowing baserunners but has been getting lucky.

Not even I would make that trade, from the Sox side I mean. By no means is Brandon Webb garunteed to keep this up for his entire career, and thiough he is god, i would rather keep 3 potentially vital parts of our future than 1 starter that Lester could very well out-do.

No, your right he might not keep this up but the scary thing is this is like his only 3rd full season. He's still a pup, and he's already got bark and bite. Webb, is basically untouchable. Forget about him. No shot. Even for those three prospects mentioned. And, every once in awhile empire has a point, and he did this time; they are trying to win the divison, they won't give up their stud ace for a potential super-stud ace, and two great other prospects. Webb in a Red Sox uni would be so redic...especially with our defense. Last year half his problem was the defense in Arizona sucked SO badly...he had a 3.36 (ish) ERA, but was a .500 pitcher because A) no run suport and B) no defense.

Capuano, he's nearly untouchable. Almost the same deal with him. You know whats scary, he came up here in Arizona too...think if the D'Backs didn't try to get Sexson, kept Capuano and rode out the tough times.

Webb

Capuano

Johnson

Prospect #1

Prospect #2

Anyway...I would love Webb or Capuano...but those are like fantasy-land trades.

2 guys who would be great fits who i havn't heard being mentioned yet...

Aaron Cook

Chris Capuano

what do you think of those 2?

i dont see capuano gettin moved for anything short of lester being thrown in

btw, capuano is from springfield and pitched at cathedral (fwiw-my senior yr in football...4.5 yrs ago we beat cathedral 60-0)

For the 06 offseason, pitchers Id like to see the Sox try & go for:

Mark Mulder, Jason Schmidt, 1 or 2 season contract to Tom Glavine (has spoken interest in Boston, age is a factor), incentive laden contract to Kerry Wood if he's not taken during the trading deadline, and Blue Jays reliever Justin Speier

Judging by the way Tito has been using these 5 relievers, I’d say his confidence level in each runs in this order: JVB, Seanez, MDC, Tavarez, and Riske.

id say he was testing the waters today to see which guy he would use in the 8th of a Yankee game. I think Van Buren is going to be in there with Foulke for the 6 and 7 if needed

id do it the other way around , id use van buren for the 6,7 and foulke for the 8. other than that bad game against the yanks where he gave up 4 runs , he had only given up 3 other runs in the month of may

seanez in 22.1 IP has only had 3 innings where he has gone 1-2-3 they both have to go

Haha who's going to take his place?

Right now I agree that Tavarez shouldn't be pitching high-leverage innings, but Rudy has been doing OK.

Keith Foulke, has kind of gotten trashed on in this thread, so I will stick up for him. When The game has been close, Foulke has been good, The times Foulke have struggled are that game agaisnt New York, a blow out, really other than that I think his Era is Low 3.00's with a BA agiasnt of about 210. He really has been good for us

Timlin is scheduled to be reactivated this coming weekend, so that should alleviate some of the reliance on Seanez and Tavarez.
