Well realistically, we was probably never goint to be a Sox player again anyways. But he'll be a first ballot hall of famer no doubt.

Wasn’t there some concern felt by Sox management about Pedro’s health back in 2003-2004? As I recall it was discovered that he had a frayed or torn rotator cuff, and because of that he missed time during the 2003 season. There were also reports that there was a noticeable drop in his velocity. Because of these uncertainties of how durable he was, it affected the length of a contract that the Sox would offer him.

 

With that said I think this was the main reason why the Sox offered him what he considered a lowball offer, when his contract expired in 2004.

 

I would LOVE to see him come back and pitch for the Sox in 2009, but I believe in the minds of Sox management they simply don’t think he’ll be effective and healthy. JMO…

sign him in 2009 for what? a 2-3 year contract? anymore than 7 mill a year would be very risky. i love the guy but we should wait until the end of the mets contract to see if he's signable.

Honestly anyone that boos Pedro isn't a real Red Sox fan, there I said it. If I was at the park that game and someone booed him near me they would get a beatdown. Honestly thats how good the guy was for the Sox.

 

It also doesn't matter what the player wants in terms of team on their HOF hat as a committee now decides since a couple players tried to get bonuses by promising to wear some random team's hat.
