I know nobody actually cares about them except for me and YoukoftheNation but it's a special thing when the laughing stock of the major leagues turns into a playoff calibur team that is contending for their division.

Not mentioning the only one that's been to a Rockies game this year, is within' a reasonable drive from Denver, and has held up half the role of keeping this thread going? Weak. :)

Im going to a Mets-Rockies game sometime!

with byung yung kim leading the way the rockies are a lock to win the west

He's there fifth starter... and is he really even close to being as bad as throwing guys like Jason Johnson out there?

Posted

ya he is

did you see bunny kim in a sox uniform??

he made us long for the salad days of john way back wasdin

honestly speaking theres a 4 team race out west

however

all 4 of them would finish behind tampa in my opinion

Kim has actually been decent this year. Actually, almost their entire rotation is starting to look like...well, a starting rotation. Cook and Francis are pitching like they actually want to win, Fogg is looking less and less like the guy he was in Pittsburgh, (See: Rockies-Mariners), Kim isnt phenomenal, but he's solid, and the offense is amazing this season. Maybe, maybe they wont take the West, but I firmly believe that theyll at least take the Wild Card. In any case, theres no way they dont finish above .500 this season.

if they finish .501 they may win the west

what do we know about the rox putting balls in a humidifier??

i heard something like that somewhere and its had a tremendous effect on the scoring out there

They were also 11-4 in Interleague play -- hell, the hottest team in baseball, the A's, came into Denver and got dominated. I think there's a lot of reason to get behind this team considering they weren't expected to compete until next year at the earliest.

Yes it has. They've been doing it for years, I believe.

You say they may win the division at .501? Isn't that kind of ignorant considering all but one team in the division is over .500?

Posted

as far as being ignorant didnt whoever won that disgraceful excuse for a proleague last season won it with what??

82-80 record?? i think??

in any case at least its competetive

And before this goes any farther, I should appologize to you for the fact that we happen to also be Rockies fans who are getting excited about their teams good play and the possibility of the playoffs for just the second time in the franchies history. I'm sorry for inconviencing you by having a seperate thread dedicated to the team and the fact that you're somehow being forced to read it, apparently against your will.

Actually, theyre the only NL team to reach double digits in Interleague wins. Also, they did something fairly easily that Boston hasnt been able to: Swept Toronto.

A stat Id like to point out:

This season, Aaron Cook hasnt given up more than 5 ER in a start. Hes been the Wakefield of the Rockies, suffering from an early lack of run support rather than actually pitching badly.

A few of his loss lines:

APR 16 vs. PHI: 8IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K. Final: Phillies 1, Rockies 0.

MAY 30 @ San Diego: 7 IP, 10 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K. Final: Padres 2, Rockies 0

JUN 16 @ St. Louis: 7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K. Final: Cardinals 8, Rockies 1. (Bullpen surrendered six runs)

Or this game he took a ND in:

JUNE 21 vs. Oakland: 8 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K. Final: Athletics 3, Rockies 2. (Fuentes blew the save and King allowed the gamewinning run in the top of the 11th)

Absolutely insane game in Coors Field tonight.

Tied at one going into the 9th, the Rockies then gave up 7 runs to the D-Backs in the top half of the inning. They then went on to get runners on second in third in the bottom half before recording their first two outs. After that, the Rockies offense put up 6 runs, but came up short after a strikeout with the tieing run on 2nd and the winning run on first.

i saw the game

it was tremendous

jennings and webb going head to head(jennings by the way has been solid all year)

1-0 rox in the 8th then the bomb

then??

then the game really started

i apologize for busting stones, its good to have as many teams as possible compete

its good for the players

its also good for the leagues health

after drawing 4M in their 1st couple of years its evident that denver deserves a winner despite my feelings towards jake plummer and coach mike shannahan mike lansing dante bichette and others

Brian Fuentes can lick monkey ass. He ruined the otherwise good night I got from Jered Weaver and Chris Young in my Fanasy League.

That was a bizarre game. I thought it was over in the ninth and then they almost proved me wrong. Great game.
