maybe they are just going to have raja come back, sign for a day and retire his number just like football players do........

hi ya col, I was listening to D & C this morning and you know as well as I do that ol phlem won't take a pay cut...too much fkn ego...the stross ain't gonna budge more than 10 mill for the year...his kid is gonna be playing a ball and from what they were saying about tom werner and the dvd, they thought that roger who has such a hugh ego can't pass up a challenge...so they throw him 15 mill to come and finish his career in boston...he just might want to have the final last laugh over the duke and do it....I know he did well in the NL but to come back to the AL is a huey with a different boom tail...(joke.....if it meant trading wells I think that between the two ol raja is in a little better shape...and he's gonna play somewhere cause he's busting his balls right now getting ready for the WBC...

alrighty--most memorable being game 7 of the 86 playoffs that clinched World Series ticket, 8-1 win. Roger had pitched on just 3 days rest

so you remember seeing this game and remembering it when you were 3 years old eh?

I know you can't stand him walrus, but if he could give us 200+ innings without his damn leg crampin up...started 32 last year right? if we could just get 5 to 6 quality innings outta him, would you still say no??

Yup, he pitched well that day

Think its a coincidence that the Sox spotted him a 7 run lead after 3? He's certainly Mr Money In The Bank when the pressures off. I've said before theres no one in the league I'd rather have on the mound staked to a big lead than Ole Blood and Guts. In fairness, I do have to give him props for mustering up the courage to actually walk out to the mound that day.

Wanna talk 1986, lets keep going. . .

What else ya got from that wonderful October

Hammer,

I don't see the FO paying him $M because it would alienate a lot of other players on the team. plus it would used as a club by other pitchers who they try and sign/resign. best to leave him down there with the tumbleweeds and get it done with what we got.....

True I was 3 at the time, but more memorbale because it was the first Sox game I had been to. I say no lies. My grandfather was able to get ahold of a tape of the game and as a kid I had easily won out that tape

tmw,

do you think so? he had no trouble hitting johnnie v's bat...

That was his song and dance after the shelling he took.

I remember an interview Keith Olberman had with David Cone and Olb asked him about Cpt Courage's performance and Cone said, "He said he had a bad back" and rolled his eyes.

Didn't Jose Offerman and John Valentin both homer off him that day?

Thats a heck of a 1st game

Although a ticket for a 3 yr old to a game like that is a total waste, IMHO (no offense meant, riv slug)

well compadre you know what they say...money talks and ******** walks!

to me bringing back raja is really a hugh gimmick that will positively have an impact...callahan was saying they would or could throw him a 15 mill carrot....but you know the fkn fellon,,,,he'll open the safety deposit boxes...

none taken, my Dad had won tickets so he brought the family. I got no complaints now of course that I was there for that, BUT when I was 3 I was starting to get cranky by the 3rd/4th inning haha

The impact will be me not making an appearance at Fenway this year

well walrus are you saying in fenway or out of fenway,,,cause even if we can't get tickets, we can still get together at the boston beer works and hang and drink like crunchy after a good night...

that's alright son, cause the walrus was in his 20's and he got cranky and unmanagable when ol phlem was pitching so your even...

I also want to send my sympathies to you too chris cause I know you knew her as well as crunchy did.....

that said, ya gotta be happy and grateful everyday that you wake up and open your eyes.

Hammer,

Thanks, she was a good bartender and to drop dead suddenly like that is a real shame

As far as my comment on Fenway goes, getting tickets is not a problem for me whatsoever. But I will not spend a nickel on the Red Sox in any capacity while that gutless f***ing coward is under contract.

"...the Red Sox as we speak are preparing to make a serious offer to one Roger Clemens, who will turn 44 in August. According to sources, the Sox’ pitch will include a slick video presentation that features a number of Red Sox fans imploring the Rocket to finish his career where it began. " -- 2.7, Gerry Callahan, Boston Herald

Yankees and Stros frontrunners for the Rocket? Hmm...

The Boston Herald has just reported that as we speak the Red Sox are making a serious run at Rocket. In the process of compiling a presentation video for Roger to see. Just thought you guys would like to know

I would really love to see this video.

if Theo gets this wrapped up he is a god

Yes he is. And yes, I would root for the Sox every 5 days. Well actually, i'd root for Roger, after he comes out of a game with alead i'd pray for the RSN-proclaimed AMAZING bullpen to blow it

They dont do that in baseball, 1 day contracts and whatnot.

Name one big game Roger Clemens has won?

1986 ALCS Game 7 vs California

1986 Game 6 vs the Mets (Obviously didnt win, but pitched very good)

1999 ALDS vs the Rangers (7 shutout innings, 3 H)

1999 World Series vs Atlanta

2000 ALCS vs Seattle

2001 World Series Game 3 vs Arizona (7IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 9 K)

2001 World Series Game 7 vs Arizona (didnt win but pitched spectacular)

2005 NLDS vs Atlanta...in RELIEF!

Obviously not all of them ,just off the top of my head quickly.

Trust me man, there is no question Roger's last few years with Boston could be described as him being a "f***ing gutless coward"...and I dont blame you. I would be pissed too with gettin ejected in the second inning of an elimination game, and some of the other stuff he pulled. IDK what was wrong with him then, but I think it is very fair to say that he is a lot different now, and has been for years.

You're kidding about this right?

Do you remember this?

Do you know what happened in Shea that night?

In case you don't, I do

First things first.

You're f***ing hero got staked to a 2-0 lead in that game and could not hold it. One of COUNTLESS post season leads he's been handed and pissed away.

Thats the "nice way" of putting it

The reality of the situation was that Ole Blood and Guts, the Greatest Pitcher of our Generation, Captain Courage, asked out of that game in the 7th inning because he had a blister on his finger.

The AL Cy Young winner and MVP asked John McNamara to take him out of that game because his f***ing finger hurt. Are you kidding me?

Game 6 of the World Series with your team leading three games to two and you ask the manager to take you out?

Do you understand the magniotude of this on the gutlessness scale?

And you're gonna sit there and actually publicly post that this is one of his best postseason games? No offense but what planet are you from?

I see

And how would you explain his gutsy 1+ inning in Game One of last years World Series?

The ole trick hamstring acted up again.

If you watch him run off the mound after he gets lifted you can clearly see that it dawns on him as he's about to reach the dugout that he should be limping and *poof* like magin the limp starts.

Winners want the ball - he didn't

Maybe he was trying to do what was best for the team. Ever think of that? If him pitching with the blister was going to make him ineffective and cause his team to lose, than it's better to pull yourself out and do what's best for the team than to try and be the Natural.

You're joking right?

This is the major leagues, son, not the 15 year old Jr Ruth team

My apologies

You know my feelings towards this guy as well as my feelings toward the media that has turned this coward into a superstar for a generation of kids who were still drinking from their mama's breast while he was laying down like a dog in big games.

I suppose the primary difference here is that some of us saw him pitch thru his whole career and some peoples "memories" of him consist of digging up old box scores on ESPN.com

Again, my apologies

I'm just glad we had Curt Schilling on the mound in 2004 play offs and WS....talk about tough! Raja would have never done what Schil did, IMO.....
