Keeping Wells is the key to the Sox staff this year IMHO. Beckett was a very good signing, but time will tell how his transition to the ALE works out. Schilling, if healthy, and we only know what the media scribes are telling us right now, is still very capable of bringing it. Clement, with a kevlar helmet he may feel more comfortable, Wake - Faaak him, I hate knuckleballers.

Good luck trying to convince Wells to stay. You should probably start the convincing ... now.

We all know Wells' desire to finish his career on the left coast, but he is under contract with the Sox and IMHO is a valuable piece to a successful starting rotation this year. He was arguably the best starting pitcher on that staff last season and the Sox should hold on to him as opposed to trading him for something they don't really need just to make him happy.

I dont think we'll have the chance to keep him. I believe if he's not traded he'd retire before returning to Fenway.

I have a sneaking suspicion that he's gonna play for us again this year. We've picked up some good guys and they did try and trade him to the left coast...I don't quite think david is ready to hang em up yet....

and to my old buddy Budlight!!! course you hate knuckleballahs bud! cause ya ain't got one to drive us crazy like he does you everytime he pitches against you.

I hope your right as I'd love to have a healthy Schilling and Wells going into the playoffs, but I just can't see him coming back.

I think that tubby will show up and pitch for us before he hangs it up. I' wouldn't be surprised if Towers was helping us out by not offering a trade for him - a little back door favor. it could also be he just doesn't want him back. Either way, he's lights out in the fens..... So, let's keep him in the rotation if he can pitch.

I was never a big Johnny Damon fan. I had respect for what he did for the team, and he certainly helped us win some VERY big games. But I could never understand why so many people were so obsessed with him! He's not cute at all...as a matter of fact, I think he looks like a caveman. And I can't wait to laugh at him all clean shaven as a Pinhole. My heart certainly didn't snap in two when I heard the news.

That is so clever. I've never heard that before.
