Who the hell does Lyle Overbay think he is?

Yeah, I'm gonna butt in here, but I read your post and that relies heavily on the success of two relativley unproven pitchers. Thats assuming BJ ryan (40 something career saves at 30 years old) can shut the door consistently. He has the most hurky jerky ugly delivery I have ever seen. He will have elbow problems like most side armers, and unlike most side armers ( or any pitcher) he doesn't really use his legs. Not good. But yeah, thats off topic. BJ and AJ are unproven guys, can AJ put it together and stay healthy and can BJ show you more of last year. We don't know yet. They added two very solid, but very shaky parts. Nothing incrediblty dependable. I would have preferred a billy wagner and an esteban loaiza, or a matt morris. Sure, BJ is flashy right now, so were Kevin Appier and Chan Ho Park. No one knows how these guys will pan out. There are if's in everything.

i wouldn't say they are unproven. aj has such "stuff" it's not even funny. if he can stay healthy he'll be a great pitcher. bj ryan is overpaid, but he was excellent last season. he k'ed over 11 per 9 (at least).

Overbay is nothing special he's just another Eric Hinske. The Jays are still no threat to the Sox or Yankees.
If you believe that you're gonna be shocked once the season is in full swing. That rotation is damn good, if they get a bat to protect Vernon Wells I would pick them to win the East.

Totally agree, there's no question they clearly set themselves to us and have established themselves in the top three in our divison. Theyw ere a pain for us and the Yanks last year, and that was minus these three. I wouldv'e enjoyed watching Overbay hit in the AL, now I just wish RJ and Beckett will aim for his empty head. Only thing thats sets them from us is, as ksushi said, the questionablility of if they'll put it all together, etc.

If they can though, watch out, they look very solid on paper as of now, but so did the (Boston) bruins at the begining of this year, it means nothing. If AJ, BJ, and Overbay can hold together they might overtake 2nd place in the East (and likely the WC).

im not oen to predict right away our season will be a wash because the blue jays will "easily" take the East. This is based on whats on paper. Whos' to say that both Halladay and Burnett could get hurt next season? Can Overbay repeat 2004 numbers? Will BJ Ryan revert to a year that Foulke had?

Lets wait until the season is actually in motion to have more of an idea who is the best of the best. Our roster isnt completely set too as well.

That's basically what we just said, they look very solid on paper, but who knows what the 2006 season will bring.

No one washed away our season...just being realistic. It's very possible for the Jays to dominate this year. That being said, I'm not gunna be skeptical about their talents, and then be in for a rude awakening. What a lot of us are saying is merely a possibility. I don't recall anyone saying that this season WILL be a wash, nor predict it.
