Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the winner of the Big 12 Championship game get an automatic BCS bid. If Colorado can pull of an upset of Texas, unlikely, then that would leave 3 one-loss teams in contention for the last spot. If that were the case, I think Texas would get the spot and still get the #2 ranking for the title game, but Colorado would take the last spot via winning the Championship game.

Yeah but the odds of that happening are minute.

Notre Dame lost AT HOME to Michigan State? Does that not count?

Oregon's ONLY loss was to USC.

And they didn't play a tougher schedule. Maybe about the same, but not tougher.

They both played Washington, USC, and Stanford. Other than those games:

Notre Dame played no team with a current record of more than 6 wins. And out of their 8 games, 5 teams currently have losing records. That includes 1-10 Syracuse.

Oregon beat 8-3 Fresno State and 7-4 Cal, and only played two teams with losing records.

Other than Washington (who they both played), the worst team on Oregon's schedule was Arizona -- and Arizona throttled UCLA.

Notre Dame lost to USC at home on the final play of the game, and one that is very controversial. Oregon lost to USC at home 45-13. It's a vast minority that argues that Oregon is a better team than Notre Dame -- and there's a reason for it.

That MSU team, at the time, was playing some of the best football in the country, and were thought to be the frontrunners to win the Big Ten.

Keep in mind that people also tend to favor teams that go out and schedule tougher opponents. Nobody, on a yearly basis, goes out and schedules tougher teams than Notre Dame.
