The city is actually behind the White Sox. Even some Cub fans are trying to jump on the bandwagon, though they are quickly dismissed, and severely beaten.

I was wondering that, if the Cubs fans were rooting for their city, and ive been meaning to ask. Thanks for answering for me.

gimme the wide, tall guy....lol

that was HILARIOUS

heck yes Jenks! thats how you do it boy

this guy is ELECTRIC!!

Jenks was absolutely FILTHY...a consistent 100 mph on the speed gun.

let the fireworks go forth on the South Side...

that's how we like it on the south side...

no cubs fans i know are rooting for us. in fact, several have told me to not speak to them until this is over. this is going to be one cold, hard, lonely, depressing winter for cubs fans.

i couldn't be happier.;)

and severely beaten is right on... trust me, there have been and will be too many incidents to point out. try going to a sox-cubs series and not see a fight in the stands. it's like a damn prison riot.

so it goes... it's been a hundred years and it'll be a hundred years more.

for the rivalry and for the cubs' fans wait on a Fall Classic!

yuppie-ass cheese eaters.;)

Jenksie should go talk to the Fridge about how this city embraced him. it seems very much the same thing to me...

I'd keep him at arms length for a while before totally embracing him.

The Angels took Jenks in the fifth round, and it didn't take long for word to get around the minors about the electric arm that reached 102 on the speed guns.

But it was also getting out what a load this kid was — and the world found out in 2003 through an amazing article in ESPN the Magazine that painted a sordid picture of binge drinking and reckless behavior.

The article told of Jenks getting suspended from the Angels' Class AA team for repeatedly bringing beer on the bus. It told of how, "in a drunken stupor, he took a lighter and burned the backside of his pitching hand, opening a wound the size of a silver dollar. He then torched his left hand and the underside of both forearms — before passing out."

It told how he would refer to his agent, Matt Soshnick, as D.J. — short for Dirty Jew (Jenks has denied this). Soshnick, now one of four former agents of Jenks, told the magazine:

"Imagine being in the top five in the world at what you do, and your demons are so terrible that your ability is dwarfed. That's Bobby Jenks. The worst thing that could happen is if he gets to the big leagues. If he gets to the big leagues, he'll free fall. He can't handle success."

Given that type of history, his impulses could lead to a meteoric fall from grace. The article does go on to say that family life has given him some stability, but tomorrow's headlines are only one domestic dispute and a bottle of whiskey away.

That was one the Astros let get away. The had men in scoring position in 3 straight innings and didn't capitalize on it. And yeah, Jenks was electric, but the hero of yesterday's game was Joe Crede. The guy hit a homer, and made like 2 or 3 excellent plays at 3rd base that saved about 3 runs.

not one of us is perfect. the problem with our culture right now is that everyone in the public eye is supposed to be perfect. to be a successful politician, you must have grown up in a rich family with political connections and 'friends' that will grease your way to the top. this is who our leaders are.

jenksie has had problems. who among us hasn't? one of the biggest problems in our society is the demonization of mental illness and our refusal, as a society, to accept that no one is perfect and some of us need more help than others. i admire him for fighting whatever it is that troubles him and not giving up on his dreams. to me, that is the very definition of bravery. no one could know how haunting it must be to be him and have those urges and problems. he's having a great time right now and he's making a lot of other people happy...

as far as i'm concerned, that's a blessing. leave him alone, everyone. no one has a right to judge him as a lesser human being. this happens all too often. messing around with celebrity sometimes doesn't appeal to each and every one of us. some of us (myself included) despise the idea of open and hollow fame. leave him alone and let him do what he does best-

pitch.

agreed... sice august, joe crede has been just incredible.

he's done what no one has done for us since my boy Ventura left.

I agree. Everyone has some parts of their past that I'm sure they'd like to forget. That said, I'd be less inclined to issue a warning if it was mere substance abuse, but he has demonstrated some seriously self-destructive behavior, ie drunken self-mutilation. I'm not saying he should be villified, but just keep in mind that he could be the type of guy hanging on by a very thin thread. Given your comments about other teams, players, and fan bases, I'd bet money you aren't so dismissive of his behavior if he's not on the White Sox.

i totally agree on that one, like chisoxtown77 said, after he came back from his minor injury he has been excellent.

no way. i never go at a ballplayer's personal problems. check out what i said about Alex Rodriguez and the death of a family member very dear to him. i stoke rivalries and utilize an acidic tongue to berate the baseball Rodriguez, not the man. i don't remark negatively about other people's personal problems. god knows, we all have plenty of em.

Fair enough. For what it's worth, I hope Jenks has truly found the type of happiness that will keep his name off the police blotter and out of the tabloids. It is a great success story up to this point.

Back to the Series. If Houston loses tonight, they are in a serious hurt locker. I think Oswalt is a good bet to win game 3, but they stand a real good chance to be down 3-1 with Backe vs. Garcia in game 4 (if they lose tonight).

Can the 'Stros come back from 3-1? Sure, they could, but I wouldn't bet money on it. Clemens is question mark for game 5 (I have a feeling his sore hamstring will fare better in Houston's warmer climate), and I just don't see them taking 3 straight from the ChiSox. Anything could happen though.

WOW what a job by the bullpen. They came in and shut down the Astros BIGTIME. Can't wait for game 2. Gonna be another great game.

Great, more FOX to look forward too. More overdue credit to the White Sox, more stupidity at its finest, more scooter, more gay openings slanted towards Chicago. Major League Baseball should punish FOX in some way for making us put up with this.

No doubt. Atleast they dumped the 'scoreboard' look on the scoreboard at the top of the screen.

Now all they need to do is drop all the sound effects, scooter, and their s***** commentators and watching a broadcast on Fox won't make me want to shoot myself.

Remember last year when they opened the ALCS with some crappy Star Wars opening? I wish I could gouge out my memory because of that.

 I remember that. That was the lamest, corniest opening ever.

you're kidding me, right? you actually are complaining about a team getting 'overdue credit' and 'gay opening slanted towards chicago'? did you WATCH last years world series? i was rooting for the BoSox, but dude... it was so slanted in favor of Boston that you'd really have to be completely incabable of unbiased analysis in order to assume fox didn't slant against the Cardinals.
