that was one of the most BS calls i've ever seen. should paul have thrown the ball to 1B? yeah...but he clearly caught strike three and the ump made the out sign. :wtf:

yes these umps have been brutal, but that garrett anderson out does not = that BS call.

The umpires on the whole this eveing: pathetic and disgraceful.

the strikeout calls on Konerko, Dye, and Everett were some of the worst ball-strike calls I've seen all year. so much of this series is now going to ride on the attentiveness of the umpires...

by the looks of them tonight, we'd be better off with little league umpires.

It was a close play, hard for the HP ump to see, But i dont get why the 3rd base ump couldnt make the right call.

exactly! look i'll give credit to both teams playing their asses off tonight, but to lose on that kind of call (btw, why the f*** didnt Sciocia call a pitchout when Ozuna came in....EVERYONE knew he was going to steal.). pathetic.

i know a win is a win, and chicago will take it, but as for karma...well beware chi-town this doesnt come back later in the series to bite you in the ass and u end up gettin screwed.

i would have rather have seen them earn it...:thumbdown

I agree with your premise, but my boy Buehrle pitched his ass off tonight, and he deserves the win. I look at it this way:

The Angels got good benefit from several bad calls throughout the game. The Sox's bad call benefit just happened to come in the 9th. They still had a chance to get Crede out, and he hammered that offering. Your point about Ozuna is PERFECT. Bad coaching by Scioscia all the way around and a great, ballsy move by Ozzie to let Mark go back in for the 9th. Buehrle, like L.A., could have allowed that runner on second to score, but he got out of it. This one, I believe, throws the momentum squarely back in our dugout.

Remember, we're the best road team in baseball too... It's gonna be a hell of a remaining 5 games. Can't wait.

Garland, Garcia, Contreras, Buehrle to come.

Horrible call; the ball was caught. Even if it wasn't, the ump signalled out immediately after he signalled for the swing and miss. The HP ump totally s*** the bed on this one.

What other bad calls? Replays showed that Rowand and Crede were both out.

Momentum? LAA gets split in your house against your two best pitchers with Byrd and Washburn on the mound. I think they have the 'mo going home where the Sox will have to face Lackey and Santana (especially now that they have something to be really pissed about).

I was thinking it would be good to see the White Sox break their drought the year after we did, but that has changed now. LAA all the way!

You're gonna root against the Sox simply because the umpire screwed up? Listen, coming from Chicago, I can tell you that no other city but Boston has had the heartache, bad calls, bad timing with bad plays, and terrible "luck" (or whatever you can call it) that we have had in our cities, guys. You can sympathize just a bit...

From bad, knuckling pucks ruining the Hawks in the conference finals against Detroit several times in the early '90s, to Hue Hollins' phantom foul call on Scottie Pippen in Madison Square Garden in '94 ruining our chances at the finals without Michael Jordan, we've suffered our fair share of bad calls and unlucky shots at the wrong time. It's part of the game. The great teams win those games as well. If LA were truly a great team, they'll bounce back and take the series from us. That's what it's all about- The best team surmounts bad officiating and wins when they have to. It's what separated the Marlins from the Schlubs in '03, what separated the BoSox from the Skankees in '04, and what will separate either the ChiSox or the Angels this year. The Angels were more screwed by their schedule the last 4 days, in my opinion, and they came in and took one from us in game one against arguably our hottest pitcher (who threw incredible, again). They beat us fair and square. Let's not cry over things that must be played through.

Understood. The better team surmounted a 3 game deficit, though. The BoSox didn't stop there. They proved themselves a Champion by then winning 4 straight from the Cards.

It's about the better team. If LA wins the series, who will remember this call? If they are the better team, we have to tip our hats. As it stands now, I still believe the series is ours to lose.

Don't forget- We're a weak home team. We're conversely the best road team in baseball.

In the playoffs its a whole different ballgame, especially in Anaheim. With those thunder-sticks, they make it LOUD. I talked to a Yankee fan friend of mine, he said that it was Bubba Crosby's fault (the collision of course) and I didn't ask him if it was because of the noise, but he most def couldn't hear Sheffield.

Either way, it's gonna be a hell of an old-time-baseball-pitching-defense-close-plays final 5 games.

I'll take our chances throwing Garland, Garcia, Contreras, and Buehrle at em for the next 4 games. I like our shots, but anything can happen; LA is a really, really good team. Maybe a World Series champ again. We'll have to see who is king of the hill.

Lackey hangs curveball #6 in row to Konerko. He should have his head checked. You can't throw a slugger 6 of the same offspeed pitch in row (especially if you are going to hang it).

they looked strong and tight again tonight. this bodes well for us.

Contreras: 8 and two-thirds innings.

Buehrle: complete game.

Garland: complete game.

our pitching, defense, and winning on the road were absolutely vital to us winning this year. Garcia was among the best road starters in baseball this year. we'll see em try to go up 3-1 saturday night.

Go White Sox!

Angels need to win tomorrow. NO way can this series go into Chicago's favor 3-1 if the Angels want ANY hope. The ChiSox pitching is simply too strong. The Angels are gunna need to try and take the last 2 games in Anaheim. It's gunna be too hard for them to try to win games 6 and 7 in Chicago if the series returns there with the series in Chicago's favor, 3-2.

the next three games:

Garcia.

Contreras.

Buehrle.

Focus and execution for 2 more victories.

2 more wins and Chicago goes back to the Classic. God help us, the devil might be getting ready to place ice hockey in hell.

White Sox!

ehh, i was kind of hoping Jenks would come in at the 9th, he is like my favorite closer haha. But yeah anyways i hope freddy would do the same as he did in Minnesota.

oh, and what the HELL is a damn 'rally monkey'. that thing is the most retarded, ridiuculous, callously commerical piece of advertising nonsense i can recall. can fans be THAT stupid as to follow a damn PR gimmick like that? what does a monkey have to do with the angels baseball team?

how freakin dumb.

then again, it is LA. i can't really say i expect anything less than total pretense. style over substance... it's the LA way.

No it's not. It's called Orange County.

omg these frigging umps made another costly dumbass error!! steve finley hit pierzynski's glove which wouldve made it bases loaded with 1 out, if these umpires are ever paying attention!!!

Yea now where never gonna hear about how well the White Sox are playing. All the talk is going to be about the umps, and the Angels fans will NEVER stop bitching.

Posted

why wouldnt they be bitching? in game 2 bad call on the angels in the 9th inning with 2 outs, turned out to be an easy white sox win. had it been ruled a strike, game wouldve gone to extra innings and a chance angels talking game 2

now this past inning, it wouldve been bases loaded with 1 out and they couldve easily tied the game or go ahead runs if not for the home plate umpire being blind and telling the angels staff he didnt see what they saw

BOO HOO, dont let it come down to that. Did the ump blo the call yes, but the Angels could have played so that wouldnt have made a diffrence. I as rooting for the White Sox in this series, but not all that into it. Now I hope the White Sox beat the crap out of the Angels, I hate Cali teams and their dumbass fans. Maybe if Vlad could hit the ball out of the infield they wouldnt be where their at, or if figgins doesnt K every AB. Excuses are like *******s everyone has one and they all stink.

I'll hold you to that the next time a call is blown against the Red Sox.

Fine, because thats part of the game. Angel fans act like their the only ones not getting calls. Agian look at the Cano playin the ALDS. Further more, I hear this same s*** from some Packer fans about bad calls. Tough s***, a call may hurt you but you shouldnt put yourself in the position where a call can cost you the game.
