Adam Stern to leave team today to have surgery

Rule 5 outfielder Adam Stern will leave the team on Sunday and have surgery by Dr. Lewis Yocum on the labrum in his right shoulder Tuesday in Los Angeles. Stern has a partial tear in the rotator cuff and opted for surgery instead of rehabbing the injury in the coming offseason.

Kinda sucks I liked him as a pinch runner.

looks like Stern will be back next spring as the reserve outfielder, cool to hear I like him as a Red Sox, he did provide some solid D before he had gotten hurt. His baerunning was good, just didnt get to see a lot of at bats from him, best one of course was his 2-run homerun while playing the White Sox.

 

Adam Stern left the Red Sox today to fly to Los Angeles, where he'll undergo labrum surgery on Tuesday. Stern's final appearance of the season came last night as a pinch-runner. Since the Rule 5 pick didn't spend 90 days on the active roster this season, he'll need to be carried by the Red Sox as a reserve outfielder at the start of next year.
