Arroyo looks to take flight in Toronto

Boston (83-59) at Toronto (71-71), 7:07 p.m. ET

After losing two of three games against the Yankees, the Red Sox travel to Toronto, where they open a three-game series with the Blue Jays on Monday.

Bronson Arroyo takes the mound for the Red Sox, looking to win his third straight start.

Arroyo beat the Angels in his most recent outing, allowing three runs in eight innings to earn his 12th win.

The Blue Jays will counter with southpaw starter Ted Lilly, who has pitched well against the Red Sox this season. In three starts, Lilly has allowed Boston only three runs in 18 2/3 innings.

Lilly lost his most recent outing, when he allowed three runs in 2 1/3 innings before leaving with shoulder discomfort.

Quotable

"I feel good. We just need to keep playing hard and battle. We're three games up. We know this isn't going to be over any time soon. All we can do is go out and play to win, and hopefully the Yankees lose some games before they come see us." -- Johnny Damon, on losing two of three to the Yankees

whats this I heard on NESN, the Sox batters will make him work and throw a lot of pitches??? they are being anxious right now and having at bats, that at the most go 3 pitches (lots of swings and misses have been on calls that wouldve been ball if no swing)

1 H in 3 IP. If a team ever gets a rotation with Lilly, Paul Byrd, and Rodrigo Lopez, we might as well send the Paw Sox to play them because the MLB club can't hit these guys.

easily 425-450 feet, Lilly was like "papi i'm gonna give you a high fastball up and in" to which Papi replies, "Fine by me" ;)---i got my wish as this innining they really made him work and throw a lot of pitches (20+) so far first 4 innings is now at 63 pittches

I'd like to say something about that papi blast

it's a good thing the Roger's Centre (canadian talk) closed, that one he just jacked would have caused an accident on the Gardiner Expressway (for those of you who have gone to toronto)

Just had a feeling. He spanked the ball in both earlier AB's. When he's picking the ball up well off of a pitcher it is just a matter of time.

manny and papi doing the offense today with just unbelievable bombs to straight away center!!!--anyone know haw many games this season have they both hit homeruns, and if any of those came of them back to back--I know in 2004 they did so 6 times back to back
