Konerko a Good Fit?

With offense likely a primary concern this off-season for the Angels, one player who could help them out is Chicago's Paul Konerko. The former Dodger, who is making $8.75 million this season, will be a free agent and would be a good complement to Vladimir Guerrero and Garret Anderson. Konerko, who can play either designated hitter or first base, is hitting .280 with 37 home runs and 90 RBI. Fifty-two of his RBI have come with runners in scoring position, and his home runs would lead the Angels.

And with Steve Finley a question mark as an everyday center fielder, Darin Erstad could shift back to the outfield. "Konerko's tough," Scioscia said. "As far as a guy who's tough with runners in scoring position, he's near the top of the list. He's tough."

I could see this, Angles need a big bat to protect Vlad, and hardly a guy hits better with men on than Konerko, it's a good fit.

I never saw us signing Konerko anyways, I always think Theo would liek to have Aubrey Huff more.

My favorite question is who plays first for the sox next year, this has probably been talked about to death though, if so just point me to a link i dont even know who the candidates are, but i know konerko has said he doesn't like Boston, and who else is out there?

while it makes some sense for the angels to pick him up, they really could have used Sweeney when they had the chance to provide some protection for vlad. i understand about overpaying, but when you don't have the proper protection for you superstar player and the rest of the team isnt gettin the job done offensively, u tend to lose those close games.

any thoughts why he wouldn't resign in chicago? other than not matching offers from other teams?
