Papelbon pitched great today against the angels i think they should keep him in the rotation and put bronson in the pen. when shilling comes back. Arroyo can be long relief.

Rotation:

Schilling

Wells

Clement

Papelbon

Wakefield

ALso terry should have kept papelbon in the game today he was pitching great who cares if he threw 100 pitches he was still looking good.

nah, Papelbon has pitched relief with the PawSox, hasn't gone too deep with the big club and was starting to wear down a little bit. Tito made the right move but I would love to see Papelbon stay in the rotation

Absolutely!! Papelborn is the real deal folks! Just look at his demeanor. He shows no fear, no apprehension and he kept one of the best teams in the majors to zero runs. Arroyo has been inconsistent all year long and should be sent to the pen. I truly think Papelbon is going to be one of the premier power pitchers in the near future.

Good point. But is he , Papelbon, have more value one every five days or so, as a starter. Or, is he more valuable in middle relief, working two to three times a week. Especialling when you consider he will probably picking up Schilling for a while.

This guy is a monster, I think he should stay in the rotation. Forget about prepping this guy to help out out of the pen, this guy is a starter and a damn good one at that. He needs to be in the rotation and I think he is one more quality start away from solidifying his spot there.

I think it depends on Miller. If he's capable of quality starts, then I favor his experience. And the idea of Jon coming in every 2nd or 3rd day to throw smoke isn't unappealing. However, if Miller has to be shut down, then Jon can fill his spot in the rotation.

Wells thinks since he is always starting s*** with the umps and management that the MLB purely doesnt like him, we all know he speaks his mind haha. He thinks they could have him serve that during the big September series

papelbon has proven he is a quality major league starter (yes in only three outings) and there is no reason to take him out of the rotation---wells's suspension, miller's injury, there is seemingly a long period where we will need him.

Angels as Remy said was the true test for Papelbon. And in 6 innings of work the 24 year old rookie held the 5th best offense scoreless. Including doing a "Pedro" type move going in to Vladimir to rattle him up, it worked as 2nd pitch later struck him out

I really don't think Miller is a factor in this one,

the rotation should be

1.Schill

2.Wells

3.Clement

4.Wake

5.Arroyo

There's no room for Papelbon, plus I tihnk he would be very very useful as a reliever his fastabll is superb the greatest thing a reliever can have, and when his splitter is going it works great as an out pitch, I think he could do well as the closer.

Oh he's still going to be in the rotation filling in for Wakefield / Wells (suspension) but as far as keeping him in the rotation long term, no way.

definitely i see him as a starter in 2006--besides those games of possibly filling in for wake if needs be, and wells' suspension, I see for now through the big September pennant race stretch paps could be dominant helping out in long relief, setup, maybe even help timlin close some games

This is just another in a long line of strange actions by Bob Watson in the MLB office. The guy was the former MFY - GM who hired Torre, so don't be surprised if he drops the hammer down on Wells during a big September series.

The Sox want Paps to start next year, but with Hansen coming up, they might be looking at getting another 4-5 starts out of him.

He can't drop the hammer during big september series Wells pretty much decides when he serves it because he can appeal.

I tihnk we're all getting a little to high on Pap here. He's done good in his first 3 starts yes but you can't really say how well he will or will not do he's still a rookie.

I want to see a little more out of his secondary pitches in the long-run, but that fastball looks great. He's making guys look silly.

Strategically, Miller was a nice value risk, but it's obvious he doesn't have too much left in the tank when he's throwing 88-91. If he can get it back up to 93-95 with consistency, then that big bender becomes much more effective. If not, he's mediocre at best. Should that be the case, Papelbon is the better strategic pick to win games.
