Hopefully Wake's knuckle will be on, and we can get to Garland, who baffled us last time. AL Cy Young candidate tonight boys, go get him. Eeeekk okay, go SOX (Red, that is). And oh yeah, if anyone from soxtalk.com reads this, HELLO FROM TALKSOX :D. Looks to be a great series.

Not great seats. Upper grandstand I think. But hey, I'm not complaining. :D

Boston weather: 3 pm observation at BOS: Few clouds at 6,000 feet, visibility 8 miles, temperature 93F, DP 68F, wind out of the west at 14 mph, gusting to 20 mph

Forecast: There's a chance of severe thunderstorms until 10 pm. Some convection is firing off to our west right now, and with a lot of heating and large amounts of precipitable water in an unstable atmosphere, we could get some intense storms at any time and in any location. Of course, where it isn't raining, it will just be hot and humid!

A wind from the west does "point" east, which is out toward center. Fenway is oriented almost east/west, with home at the west end. There's generally very little effect on groundballs (garland is a groundball pitcher) because of the elevated structure behind home, however, the winds may swirl around a bit tonight, particularly with the changes in velocity and direction. The high humidity may have an effect on the knuckleball, though. Less dense air, less air resistance, more movement.

You are right but you are wrong. Humidity increases air density (more water vapor concentration in the air), and increased air density means more friction on the ball, thus making it move more. :D

Your 100 % right about density / humidity. But help me out, I recall reading somewhere that Tim pitches better in domed stadiums, why would that be ?

My guess would be location. Of the domed stadiums, Tampa is where he pitches most often. Florida has very high average relative humidity. And, while the temperature is controlled, I seriously doubt that they employ dehumidifiers in their cental air system. Therefore the ambient humidity inside will be the same as the ambient humidity outside.

Okay, sounds good to me.

Sorry. I'm in school year round right now to finish my Electrical Engineering degree. Right now I'm enjoying two weeks off between semesters, then back to the books. One year left. :D
