Fossum turned in one of his best outings of the season against Toronto in his last start on July 14. The left-hander went a season-high 7 2/3 innings and allowed no runs on just four hits. The Rays' shutout win was the first since last August and the first victory for Fossum since June 20.

 

Arroyo looked sluggish in his first start after the break, giving up 10 hits and four earned runs in five innings against the Yankees. Arroyo by and large has been an innings eater of late, going at least seven innings in four of his last six starts. He pitched once against the Devil Rays this season, giving up seven hits and three runs over six innings in a win.
