MELKY MOVING UP

According to the official website of the Class AA Trenton Thunder, the Yankees are promoting center fielder Melky Cabrera to start against the Guardians on Thursday night. Here's one major league scout's take on Cabrera:

"He's their most talented position player in the minors. He can play center field. He's athletic. He doesn't have one dominant tool. But when you put 'em all together, he can be an everyday major leaguer."

"He won't steal a ton of bases, hit a ton of home runs. For the Yankees or a team looking to win the World Series, it would be a stretch for him to be the every day center fielder unless you've got some real good pieces around him offensively.

"He's only 20. He's still young. He still has some upside. I think ultimately he'll hit about 10 to 12 homers and steal about 20 bases a season as a big leaguer."

I know this is a Red Sox board, and I'm a Red Sox fan, but we all know Red Sox fans are obsessed with the Yankees. Here's some interesting news from Yankee camp (from the Sporting News). Are they showcasing him for a potential trade (like Navarro last season)? Are they interested in having him play regularly as a Yankee?

There is no way they are showcasing him for a trade. $tienbriener loves him and wants him to be the every day CF, and according to Gammons on Sports Center the only team interested in Kotsay right now is the Cubs, so no trade for Kotsay, it appears they may be trying to get him to start CF.
