The Mets signed free-agent reliever Danny Graves on Thursday, after he cleared waivers. Graves fell out of favor with the Reds after numerous horrible outings. While the Reds tried to trade him, there was minimal interest due to a large contract and additional contract clauses that required a salary increase in the event he was traded.

In the past couple years, Graves has lost some speed off his fastball, his control, and as a result, quite a few games. It's tough to imagine them using Graves over Looper in the closer role. Both pitchers have had their rough outings, but as of late, Looper has settled down, converting his last 11 saves. The same cannot be said for Graves. At this point we expect the Mets new acquisition to settle into a set-up role

Graves is horrible. This might even makes the Mets a worse team. He's going to get blasted in New York by both opponents' bats and the media.
