Giants bolster their bullpen, while the Cubs get a few arms.

 

Cubs receive:

SP Jerome Williams

SP David Aardsma

 

Giants receive:

RP Latroy Hawkins

 

I say the price was a little high to trade for Hawkins. Williams and Aardsma both have potential.

Too much for the Giants to give up. Aardsma is at least a quality set-up man, which is pretty much what Hawkins is. Also, if Williams finds his mechanics, he's a good #3 starter. Hendry did an excellent job stealing from Sabean here. Giants still won't win the division. What makes it even more mind-boggling is how good Tyler Walker has been in the closer's role that Hawkins in pretty much unnecessary.

I don't know I think it works both ways the Cubs are cursed so whatever they get doesn't matter and the Giants added a good arm to thier pen.

Yeah, I think that was the best move the Duke made for us. Either that or signing Pedro. I'm still torn.
