:damon: From what I read from the SOx site Damon after this season is goin to be put on the free agent list. Why? Does this not bug anyone else first Pedro now Johnny the SOx that Me and a million other fans know and love are bin seperated. Any thoughts?

I've said this a couple times already, but I think Johnny is due for a sharp decline in his performance. If he doesn't have one this season, I think he will definitely have one in '06. The Sox have to be smart and not sign this guy to a long-term contract. Add that to the fact that you have Hanley, who I think may be possible for '06.

We probably could but the money would be much more wisely spent on other needs this offseason.

Easily, but it Hanley wouldn't cost anything.

Yeah he wouldn't cost anything but it is no sure shot that he would be any good at it or in the bigs period I'd much rather have some security in a proven not great but good CF.

He'll never have the chance to prove himself to be great, if he doesn't play on a regular basis however.

Welcome to modern baseball. Players have a contract, they get paid, they play, and then they leave. They also get replaced. I wouldn't worry about it to much, if he doesn't stay there are plenty of other options.

I would hate to see Johnny go. He is as much an icon for this championship squad as we have on the team besides maybe Schilling. Losing him would be like losing a big part of the Sox that changed baseball. I would hate to see that happen.
