Wade Miller is worth looking into. When healthy, he's better than Clement or Pavano (in my opinion). He's no Pedro, but he'd be a decent #2 for Boston.

He's a perfect fit for the sox. This could be the lucky break for the sox. He's only 28 and will be great. He was 31-12 in 2001 and 2002 then battled injuries. I hope the sox go after this guy. He could be this missing link in the rotation. theo should make this a priority and i am sure he will. miller has a superb career record and a sub 4.00 era all while pitching most of his career in houston's tiny home park.

if houston wanted him back they would have offered him a contract, arbitration could not have been much of a risk at 7-7 last year. it is reported that miller has recieved a clean bill of health by 2 doctors and is to begin throwing within a month.

if theo can land a healthy miller and somehow add another quality bat, the sox will have as good a team as anyone.

Sign him and if fails a physical then it will not cost anything...

I understand that Houston let Miller go to try to keep cash for Carlos Beltran.

Wade Miller's effectiveness dropped from 2002 to 2003. After the season it turned out that his shoulder was sore. In 2004 he was back to his 2002 effectiveness until he went out halfway through the year with a frayed rotator cuff. Yes, the doctors say he's fine now.

I dropped Wade Miller into my prognosticator and I was a little bit surprised. It predicts that his ERA+ will be 122 next year, and it's really, really sure of that...too sure, of course, given the external situation, but interesting. More interesting is the high deviation on innings pitched. The model offered a range of 69 to 148 innings pitched, yielding W/L records ranging from 5-3 through 12-7, with a prediction of 9-5.
