I think that if Bellhorn had mashed one or driven in some runs in either Game 3 or 4, he would have been the choice (not saying whether or not I think that's right, just what would have happened). As it is, I would have voted Foulke, but then again he really wasn't in that many very tight save situations (just Game 1, right?), so you could say that he just mopped up.

Mueller batted .400+, as did Manny, so I think either one would have been appropriate. I guess Manny had more RBIs, plus the HR, so that's that.

Now that I think about it, the MVP should have gone to... the Sox pitching staff. They just throttled the NL's best offense. Absolutely made them look like schoolchildren. It was a thing beautiful and astounding to behold.

Back in the early 90's, when I could ill afford it, I had a degenerate habit of spending all my money on baseball cards.

The experts said buy Ken Griffey cards, but I bought Manny Ramirez. The stats said buy Frank Thomas cards, but I bought Manny Ramirez. This was even before he had even so much as stepped up to the plate at Jacobs Field for his major league debut. I am a Manny Ramirez fan.

Even after his several years with the Red Sox, it still seems surreal to me whenever I see a picture of Manny with a "B" on his cap, or a caption in the newspaper that says "Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez". I am a Manny Ramirez fan.

Johnny Damon, Mark Bellhorn, Curt Schilling, David Ortiz are all deserving of the award. Anybody who cares to add another name or two to that list won't get any argument from me, the Manny Ramirez fan.

Give him a pat on the back, a bottle of bubbly, maybe even sing a song for him to commemorate his hitting streak.

But the WS MVP award? Take it from me, a Manny Ramirez fan. NO F'ING WAY!

I would have given it to Foulke too, just because he pitched EVERY game.

The great part about this team was that there was no ONE guy who stood out, they got meaningful contributions from EVERY starter in the lineup.

Ramirez had hits in every game, but he also made 2 errors in ONE INNING!

If I had a vote, I'd have gone for Foulke, but I can see the argument for guys like Mueller, Cabrera, etc.

there was clearly not MOST VALUABLE PLAYER on this ws winning team. everyone was a contributer.

this was one of the best team winning efforts.

i'm so happy. i was so happy last night i couldn't talk or post here.

You could argue for Damon, you could certainly argue for Foulke, I notice no one is arguing for Schilling, which feeds the belief that he is a little too self-promoting. I myself might give it to Theo Epstein for having the guts to trade Nomar.

Schilling was AWESOME, no doubt about it, we wouldn't have won it without him. However, his contributions to the World Series were for ONE GAME. Same with Petey, and DLowe. They were needed, but can you give MVP for a SERIES to a player who contributed to ONE win?

I said Foulke because he closed out all 4 games. He played a big part in this win.

In a series that goes to four games I think there really is no situation in which you can give the MVP award to a pitcher, unless he pitches a perfect game or something. Schilling pitched well, no doubt about it, and he made sacrifices for the team. I dont think it should be looked down upon that everyone thinks of him as such a dirtdog now, he is, he just didnt deserve the MVP this time around.

In 2001, when he co-owned the MVP award, he pitched 21.3 innings and had a 1.69 ERA. He struck out 26 yankees and had only 2 walks. That's deserving of an MVP award. It's deserving of any award imagineable, including the Nobel prize for pitching (if such a prize existed).

That's why no one is arguing for Schilling, despite how well he pitched. It's just a wonder as to why it didnt go to Foulke is all.

I don't know how Mueller could have got it. Yeah, he batted pretty good but he couldn't field at all. When you have 3 errors in one game than you shouldn't get the MVP award.

Manny seemed like he wasn't too bad of a choice for it though.
