Think this one over. The way the rotation is set, Schilling will miss the MFY next weekend. Right now it looks like Arroyo, Lowe and Pedro. It seems to me that somehow Francona needs to work out the rotation in a way that Schilling gets to pitch in the Bronx. Schilling will pitch Thursday for his 20th win against Tampa, but it's much more important that he throws 7 or 8 strong innings Friday rather than mow down the Devil Rays for number 20 on Thursday.

Yes Schilling misses the first Yankee series but I believe he makes the 2nd one at Fenway assuming the rotatiion stays as is. Francona has been good AS OF LATE I still don't like him.

He's scared of the bronx ever since 2001.

Curt had a great world series in 2001, going 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA, I believe he pitched very well in one of the games that BK blew. So I don't think he's scared. It's weird that he won't pitch in Yankee Stadium at all during the regular season.

exactly BK blew it, he was tramatized. He even admitted it in a PC. He probably requested not to pitch in yankee stadium. What do you play 9 times in the bronx and he won't pitch in one? Somethin's up.

I'll give some props to Tito. Maybe it's because of Roberts and Cabrera, but he seems to be playing some small ball, which is a good reason why we've been successful. He's doing a better job with the pitchers, and the addition of Williamson will only help. I think he made a smart move in resting Embree for a while and his faith in Timlin seems to be paying off.

I still think he should play Mientkiewicz more and Millar less, but whatever. However, let's not give all the credit to Tito. When the Sox lineup is at full torque like it is right now, managing has little to do with the victories.

I hope Francona does make a big mistake by pulling Arroyo from the rotation in October, but we'll see. Nevertheless, if Tito can bring us a WS Championship, I will forgive him all his transgressions.

But if he fails.... does he get fired? It seems like our hopes are so high right now that if we come short of a world series victory we'll be devastated. All the blame will most likely fall on the manager some way or another.

I just don't think the Sox give all this money to Schilling only give the ball to Bronson Arroyo in the Bronx in September.

Our rotation hasn't been changed once, so it has luck of the draw, and what does BK blowing the lead have to do with Curt being scared.

It has somethin to do with it. There must be a reason that he hasnt faced once in the bronx.

um...Curt scared? I highly doubt that.

Francona hasn't ONCE re-arranged the rotation to get desired matchups. He just goes with the flow, and sees what happens. This isn't any different.

Going with the flow and seeing what happens doesn't sound like managing to me.

But doesn't that seem to be what he does?

ok maybe not scared, but something. 9 times he could have pitched at the stadium and not once he does. Somethins up.

First off, I don't think Schilling is afraid of a franchise he blew out of the water to win a ring. Secondly, there really is no need to mess around with the rotation. Why risk hurting Schill on four days rest when you still have a solid Wild Card lead. If we were trailing in the WC and teh division I could see reoerdering the rotation. But as long as we have one playoff spot in our back pocket, there is no need for putting too much effort into catching the Yanks that it might hurt us when it really matters, i.e. October.

i assure you he isnt afraid of the yankees.

walking in the streets around the stadium is more frightening these days than playing at the stadium.

cried last time he faced them. Hey i know people that live right next to the stadium.

From Wednesday's Boston Herald:

"The Sox chose not to use Monday, their last off day of the season, to arrange their rotation for the upcoming Yankees series. Francona did not see the need.

``We did that a long time ago. We lined it up the way we wanted to line up,'' he said. ``We looked at the whole last part of the year and we were comfortable with what we were doing.

``We have our five starters and I just think the way they fall is the right way to do it. If you start playing around too much, you're asking for trouble. We have confidence in all of them and think they all deserve that.'' . . .

Let's give Tito credit, he did a good job tonight. He stuck with Arroyo after the rain delay. Embree and Timlin were effective even though Timlin seemed to miss Tek's targets. Roberts to pinch run for Trot was a no brainer, but he did make the move. And inserting three gold glovers in the infield for the 9th was perfect.

I have absolutely no faith in Francona.

I wont blame him for this weekends fiasco--but I am getting tired of the cliches, and I am also firmly believe that stevie wonder's seeing eye dog could tell when pitchers dot have their stuff before it occurs to Francona. Thank God that ball hit Lowe he'd still be there pitching in the second inning if it hadn't.

The problem of having a passive (that's me being nice) pussy (me being mean) for a manager is when the boys dont have it, he is utterly useless and inffectectual. He does nothing to lead the team, nothing to inspire and brings nothing to the table..

I 'd rather have that ball girl with the braids managing at least when you'd see more of her when they show the manager in the dugout. It would be a whole better to watch than that cue ball head chomping on his chaw.

francona is a big friggin moron. No I am not panicing...we lose three in a row not the end of the world, losing to the Ms, and the devil rays, ok...but this francona is a big dummy.

First of all, wake is a stiff and his damn knuckle ball sucks. So for startes timmy should be one.

Secondly, why does he leave these guys in to get clobbered. Lowe and pedro shouldnt have been pitching, when it became apparent to everyone with f***ing eyes that they were in trouble.

If you ask me the manager has made the last three games worse, and thats saying something.

God, I hope we win it all, I hope we pull out of this funk, and God, please fire this clown as soon as possible!!!!PLEASE!!!!

Tito has proven to have a late hook on the pitchers except for Arroyo. Three days in a row he's come out for a change and the game is already way out of hand. Is he talking with Wallace? Is he too busy looking at James' stat sheet? And why isn't he playing Dave Roberts? This guy had 33 stolen bases with the Dodgers in the first half. The last time we saw him he was only scoring the tying run from second in the bronx on Friday. The guy can make things happen. I really like Kapler, but Roberts needs playing time in right.

of course he's not playing roberts he was doing well..

He's beloved belllhorn needs to take a rest, too.....those strikeouts are getting old.

I think wallace is a pussy too...they both spend all their time sucking up to the players...

they seem like they would be better off as accountants...Wallace & Francona

I know the Sox don't bunt, or can't. But Damon up in the 9th with Roberts on third and one out seems like a great spot for a squeeze. I wish this team was more fundamental. But Bellhorn bailed out everyone. Time to play Roberts!
