I think he's doing a good job being agressive, other than the one tine that Roberts got thrown out, he hasn't made "fatal" errors. The times the runners are getting thrown out the outfielders make Willie Mays type throws. I think he's doing a fine job.

I hope you wrote this before the fifth inning of Sunday's game. What the f___ was Sveum thinking sending ORTIZ!!!!! on a ball hit to LEFT field!!! As far as your earlier comments, Sveum has gotten way to many guys thrown out and at the wrong times. One of baseball's unwritten rules is never make the first or last out at third or home. Every time someone gets thrown out at home under Sveum it's the first or third out. I can do a better job at third base than Sveum, and I have. As far as the Willie Mays comment, somewhat true, but not entirely. Baldelli is one of the best throwing centerfielders, yet Sveum continued to try and best him, only to fail almost every time. And the Ortiz play today was just the ultimate in stupidity. For crying out loud. Johnny Damon would have been thrown out on that play. There was as close to no chance as possible that Ortiz was going to score. So instead of another bases loaded situation and a chance to add more insurance, Sveum kills the Sox rally.

To Theo: Couldn't you have put Sveum in one of the deadline trades? Heck, you should've thrown him in the Noamr deal and brought Wendell Kim back.

Send 'em in Kim was infinitely better than Sveum, and Kim was horrible. There's no excusing the bad moves Sveum has made (look at Youk's injury as a result!). A blind, retarded two year old could make better calls at 3b.

I love aggressive baseball. Much more exciting to watch, and makes things interesting. For this reason, I have not been hard on Svuem...

But sending Ortiz on that basehit to left wasn't aggressive, it was STUPID. Ortiz is slow, the ball was shallow (and hit pretty hard by Cabrera).

Overall I like how Svuem is aggressive, but he's got to be more selective on sending people. It didn't hurt us last night, but it EASILY could in the future.

sveum doesnt really seem to have any idea of who is on base, and seems to make his decisions based on the situation at hand rather than factoring in who is on base.

PLus, he seems to send guys on the basis of "not getting a perfect throw"...This is the f***ing major leagues and 9 times of ten there is a good throwe.

he is going to get someone killed. Further, in many cases I think the players just do what they want now because the guy is such a bafoon.

A winning streak has a tendancy to turn dumb asses like francona into smarty pants. I still think we have an atrocious coahcing staff, and Dale is a poarty of that. Luckily, now that Nomar is gone the team seems to be taking matters into their own hands.

I say let McCarty coach thrid.

McCarty at third would be a good idea, then he would REALLY be a utility man. 1b, OF, RP and 3B coach! Gotta love McCarty.

But here's an idea, let's throw Johnny Pesky at third. His old school style would definitely be better than Sveum khamikaze method.

I agree with you, Ortiz is too slow to be sending, but he really looked slow down that line. Anybody else probably scores.

But the third base coach doesnt make the call for stealing bases, does he? I thought that was left up to the runner or the manager. Lets not try to give sucky sveum credit for good things!

Yeszir, you're right. I was actually simply commenting on the newfound TEAM aggressiveness on the basepaths.

It's a related subject, so I included it in this post. I don't believe, however, that Svuem makes the decisions on when to steal.
