Cabrera--all Leather No Wood

Now that the dusk has settled and Nomar's body is getting cold, what are you guys thinking about Carbrera. I am thinking as much as I support the decision to get rid of Nomar, and to get something (anything) for him before he bolted after the season--this guy cant hit for beans.

 

Real Managers (unlike Teresa) who manage are quickly learning that they can walk hitters to get to Carbrera becasue they are assured an easy out.

He can field thats for sure, just as good if not better bthan Nomar, but man ,those uintimely pop-ups, stupid swings at first pitches, strikeouts and hits when it didnt count are looking good right about now.

 

Because our bullpen sucks so bad (particularly alan E), we need to win and win big, or at least get the game to Foulke, we cant afford to be carrying any easy outs--so this guy concerns me.

 

What can we do?

Alan Embree sucks? I didn't realize he became Felix Herida

 

Orlando Caberra is the best fielding SS in the AL

 

He hit .280 last month, he'll adjust when he stops trying to hit everything out.

 

I haven't seen any team intentionally walk a Sox batter to get to Caberra

 

Our bullpen doesn't suck it's ERA i think is pretty low, with no Reliever having an ERA over 4.5.

ThaERA figure is misleading becasue of our lusy defense. I dont think our bullpen is very good at all. I dont think alan embree could get FDR to strike out or walk for that matter...

 

 

Last night they walked someone to get to Carbrera with the b ases loaded.

I was thinking out loud about his weak hitting.

As for Cabrera, he'll snap out of this "no wood" phase, as he has hit much better in the past (he has been on many a fantasy team of mine), but he won't approach the level that nomar was at. We knew this when we got him, so don't take it as huge news.

But he couldnt exactly get it done in the 9th. That was a really half hearted check swing groudout.

our bullpen might not be great right now but you guys need to remember that willy is out and kim doesn't seem like he can get that 10 mph back on his fb. they are tired.
