We're coming off of our first winning road series since early June, so we have "momentum" on our side.

Lowe owns Detroti, going 5-0, 1.39 ERA against them during his career. Maroth, not so much. He's 0-4, 7.77 ERA lifetime against Boston. We have history, momentum, and the fact that we're playing the Tigers and facing a former 20 game loser on our side. We better sweep.

Yeszir,

It's a little early to be thinking sweep.

Derek hasn't faced Detroit this year (and he's struggling), and Maroth hasn't faced Boston (and he's doing much better this year).

I'm not sure how much we can trust historical stats...

The bottom line is the Tigers are a less talented team than we are, and we should win 2 of 3. Championship caliber teams beat up on teams like Tampa Bay and Detroit. We may find out just what this team is made of this weekend.

At this point, every SERIES is a must-win. If we take 2 of 3 every series (on average) I like our chances for the playoffs (and isn't that the goal at this point?)

Let's hope an improved defense helps out Derek Lowe tonight.

sorry to possibly ruin your game here but 11-3 yanks so you re still back 9 1/2 even if you win. I think most yankee fans are more concerned about the cards and the best record now.

The Yankees won't win the World Series this year, just because of their lack of arms, and the arms they have are completly overrused. They have a damn good offense, but does offense win in the postseason? Pitching and defense does, something the Yankees lack.

the yankees dont have the arms?

How we can we sit around and watch this lifeless and frustarting team and even dare to critisize the yankees.

Another must win hangs in the balance and we make the only bullpen shittier than outrs look like the best in the league.

ok, the yankees dont have the best pitching in the league, but you cant say no defense. its a hell of a lot better than the bosox defense which has been slightly upgraded. But the yankees arent really built to win the WS i dont think.

The Bosox defense has been more than "slightly upgraded". I'd go as far as saying its one of the best in the league right now.

It is, maybe somewhere wait no I can't see where the Yankees would be better. Maybe at third. Hey did any see the Keep the Faith commerical, right after a loss?! What the f***?!

ok tell me how the bosox are going to make the playoffs:

1.4-3 lost to the TIGERS?!?!?

2.10 1/2 out of AL east (come on devil dogs)

3. 2 games out of wild card, if the bosox were leading the wild card i would say you have a good chance. you know its unfortunate u wont make the playoffs so we could kick your asses again but whatever curse survives another year.

Yea, only 2 games out of the Wild Card, not that much.

f*** this team, I can't take it anymore. I want Manny D., Jon Papelbon, Jon Lester and Abe Alvarez in this rotation now! We need some real starting pitchers.

We should start by calling them up! Why the f*** are these guys still in single A baseball?

Hell, they're better than 4 of our 5 starters!
