Actually, Cora does look at player splits (how well they hit against righty or left pitchers) when making up his lineups.   Last night Gonzalez and Bregman led off because their OPS's against lefties are 1.017 and .989.  Weirdly, Anthony batted 3d, OPS .760 vs lefties, because his was the next best bat against lefties.  Story batted 4th because his .754 was next best,  Garcia next was a guess.  Duran 6th because his OPS vs lefties is .570.  Rafaela 7th with his .710 OPS maybe because of his recent slump.  Finally Eaton and Wong.

The problem with that lineup was they went against a good lefty, Fried.  

And guess what?  The Yankees had a much better lineup than the Sox last night and never got a man to 2b because Bello, Whitlock, and Chapman were terrific. 

As for addictions, I think yours is way stronger than any Cora might have.  You have convinced yourself he and he alone is why the Sox aren't undefeated.

Lowe is the worst batter in MLB vs LHPs, this year.

I can't fault Cora for having Lowe start off on the bench, knowing he will PH, if needed.

This wasn't a great first day in MLB for Garcia, but he did face a rejuvenated Fried on the mound.

I'm still super high on this kid. We could really use another big power bat from the right side  of the plate.

Because Ref and Abreu are on the IL and we needed a big RHB. Lowe is MLB's worst batter vs lefties.

Fried had been struggling for quite a few starts. It's hard to project he'd be back in form.

 I noticed half the line-up didn't wait around to flail at Fried Friday night. Only two batters had hits off him.

But we know Cora, so expect his righty batting order back in there tonight.

Actually Cora is the analytics department. It’s a really big part of why he was hired…

If-then-and-then: If that's true, then AC has serious input on trade targets to pursue -- and then should be included among personalities (along with stiffs) involved in negotiations with prospective trade partners.

Hell, the fact that he does not have to face a righty is already cutting him some slack to start his career.

I'm sure AC has a voice in a lot of stuff, based on how loyal they've been to him and the apparently legit rumors that he's expected to remain in the org after managing.

I hope they listen to Cora, and I think Brez has good baseball instincts, too. I like the combo, and may be in a minority with that position. It seems several posters think both are "idiots" or worse.

On the analytics and platoons, one could argue Cora does not platoon enough, as Duran has been pretty poor vs LHPs just about every season.

Who is against batting Romy and Ref vs LHPs? Please, speak up!
