    I think Rafaeala's slump needs to be talked about more. I know his calling card is his Defense, and his offense will definitely take a hit, but when he is hot and going we are hot and going. He was arguably the guy during the 10 game winning streak going into the break and before Anthony broke out. If we can get him anywhere near that that will 100% mitigate some of Anthony being out. I have genuinely never felt more confident in an at-bat than when Rafaela came up against the Rays and launched that homerun. When he's hot, he's otherworldly hot, just needs to get his swagger and confidence back (that will hopefully come as he settles back into CF)

    I think Wong has also emerged as a great clubhouse guy. Crochet speaks very highly of him, Bello's personal catcher, "fixed" Chapman. He's also always on the top step celebrating with Crochet after everything. Those guys are more important than you think!

    The Brewers are undoubtedly the best team in the league, they are playing Brice Turang (never a top 100 prospect), Andrew Vaughn (Career .721 OPS), Caleb Durbin (14th round pick) and Isaac Collins (28yr old rookie) nearly every day. Name value isn't everything. Eaton and Sogard have both been coming through these past few days at a higher level than I think anyone could have asked for.

    Our offensive biggest problem down the stretch is the lack of raw power. Getting Abreu back will help, but not having a true homerun threat does worry me a little

    Every team will have to deal with blackholes on offense, and luckily our offensive black holes have their strengths and excel at certain things: Rafaela - Defense Eaton - Speed Hamilton - Speed Sogard - Versatility (and he's delivered some big hits recently) Even Wong has shown to be a favorite amongst the pitching staff We only complain about our "blackholes" because those are the "blackholes" we know the most about. We have arguably one of the most well-balanced teams in the AL, while having potentially the best front 3 in the rotation and THE best setup-closer duo in the league.

    KC has played RF for the past 3 games in Worcester. Anything there?

    Putting Wilyer in right also gives us the probably the best defensive outfield in the game. I want to hold out hope Ceddanne will get hot as he adjusts back to life in CF (his slump coincides with the move to 2nd), but it is getting really late for him.

    Tolle was on a very short leash to begin with, but yeah that isn't a good sign. He needs atleast some sort of plus secondary

    if it makes anyone feel better Merril Kelly just gave up to HR to the Brewers in the top of the first!!

    Narvaez, Crochet, Bregman, Lowe, Matz, Chapman, Wilson, Tolle, Giolito and Slaten are all successes. Wished we kept Pivetta, wish we got another arm at the deadline, wish the Devers situation had unfolded differently, but overall Breslow did a great job complimenting the young core Bloom had been building.

    Agree here, can't forget Breslow is a first time GM. He's smart and seems to know how Boston is supposed to operate but there's still a learning curve. I have faith in him. Really great FA last year, good draft this year. Extending young players is what good teams do (MIL with Chourio, SDP with Merril). He did a good job of pivoting and committing to Anthony as the "face of the franchise" after trading Devers

    To breslow's credit none of the top arms got traded at the deadline. Sandy, Gallen, Keller and Ryan all stayed put. The problem is he just talks alot and really doesn't say the right things just yet. That whole "uncomfortably aggressive" thing seemed like a way to avoid blame.

    this was definitely a sellers deadline. Teams were asking for a lot and Breslow didn't want to part with the top pitching arms. Campbell was probably our best trade piece but I'm not sure many people wanted that contract. Breslow had a solid deadline. I'm glad we didn't overpay and get rid of Tolle or Early (or JH Garcia for that matter).

    that's true. It looks like the Sox have had trouble finding him a good #2 pitch. I think they see potential in his slider (5% usage up to 18% since joining) but it is far from a finished product. With Criswell injured it does make sense for him to be the long man to come up.

    Buehler was undeniably a bad deal but don't forget at the time people really loved this move from Breslow. One year deal for a guy with postseason experience who had shown flashes at time. Really sucked it didn't work out but don't forget some people had him penciled in as our #2 behind crochet.

    problem is the lack of depth. Crochet and Bello are both going on career high in innings. Gio is in his first full season since 2023. Alot of the bullpen has surpassed or is approaching career highs.

    Crochet is also pretty split proof with the cutter and Early's changeup should be a plus pitch against both LHH and RHH. Hopefully we'll target a RHP this offseason (i'm looking at you dylan cease)
